I'm looking at fitting some more manly brakes to my Cerbera, it has standard 4.2 items on at the moment, but i do have some 4.5 discs, my current brakes are 305mm discs and the spare discs i have are 320mm. Will these be enough of an upgrade or does anyone know of anything bigger, i dont want to break the bank!! I am interested in this as my brakes could only manage around 5 laps max (Silverstone) before the pedal decked.

I guess it depends on what size wheels you are running, and whether you can physically fit any bigger than the 322mm discs

Unless youre lucky the calipers you have will only do 305mm. are they 4 bolts holding the two sections together?

really you need the 6 bolt 4.5 calipers as they will comfortably do 330mm (the size we run on our t350 race car, and the size itsallyellow runs on his cerbie racer, plus a whole load of track day cerbs ive upgraded over the years ..) you can go bigger than 330mm but then you should start to think about rear brakes but as rear discs are not available in larger sizes ( whilst still retaining the handbrake drum) then that would need a lot more money and effort throwing at it than is sensible.

330mm copes with serious aero on racing slicks so i think you'll be ok even with your power levels as your total braking effort into the brakes at the end of the straight will be governed by your speed and traction .. on road tyres you'll not have the cornering speed onto a straight or traction to trouble the brakes anywhere near as much as the race cars do unless you regularly go to snetterton.

You'll need some alloy bells, the 330mm discs, the caliper spacers off the 4.5 uprights plus some 4mm spacers to space the caliper out further as the std 4,5 discs are 322mm not 330mm. alternatively you can fabricate your own caliper spacer with an extra 4mm in as std.

Hi,

As Joo said the 330mm upgrade is great. My brakes dont go off at all.

However you will need the "6 bolt" AP calipers.

I couldnt have any more front breaking in my car due to grip even with slicks!!!

Yep, mine are the smaller calipers. I tried one over my 320ish disc and they did not sit right, how much and where are the 330's? Cheers Paul.
