I think fundamentally he is a huge fan of them, but as a motoring journalist you have to be look at the reliability and build quality as a fundamental issue. Lotus is a british car manufacturer after a similar market to late TVR's and the reliability and build quality is on another level IMO. Real shame. I have such huge passion for the bloody things

Usually that's done once they've seen them or heard them start up. It's after the drive you can see them mentally working out if they can afford one and how they're going to tell the wife
