Half way through rebuilding my suspension after powder coating the components and changing the bushes for powerflex. I've been using TT Tims photos to help me along (thanks Tim) however I have a query and not sure if the way you have rebuilt yours is correct. If you see the photo below ( again Tims photo, hope you don't mind) of the front top wishbone its the positioning of the top hat washer after the large metal washer that I am querying.

The way Tim has it here is the top hat washer going through the large metal washer. To me this then means that when you torque up the nut you are going to clamp the nylon washer hard against the bush and wishbone. I thought that the clamping load should go through the central stainless steel sleeve only and this would be acheived if the top hat bush and large washer were swapped around. The other issue is that the top hat transfers the lateral load from the bolt to the bush if you have the washer round this way there is only a small amount of the top hat washer inside the bush to take this load.

Anyone have any experience or views on this? Also anyone know if you can buy those top hat washers from anywhere or there part number, I seem to have misplaced a couple.

No problem using my pics.

I seem to remember scratching my head at exactly this point too.

I can't remember the exact order that the components when back on - I have a memory like a sieve!

But, what you're saying makes sense, the I/D on the nylon washer, from memory, is the same size as the O/D of the bush but smaller than the O/D of the top hat washer. But I'd like to check my car, as it's peeing down I'm not inclined to get the trolley jack out.

Just checked my other pics and yes, I've put the top hat on the outser side of the large washer. You've got me questioning myself now. scratchchin

Well I take it has been working ok for you so cannot be that bad. I'll maybe try and give Steve Heath a call who I bought them off tomorrow and see if he can give me a definitive answer.

I took several photos of mine when I removed it.
Just checked the pics and they show that the top hats were fitted into the bush both sides.
There were also 3 washers between the chassis and the top hat to take up the clearance.

I think you mar be better off speaking to Powerflex technical help, they're very helpful. Although Steve may sell them, he may not be the expert.

I'm going to take mine apart mid-month, after the last sprint to check everything, before the winter 'projects'.
