After thinking about it, and the guys in the know saying the 4 pots are what i should be using, and they have been there and are doing it...i went the 4 pot route, alot easier as they are the same radial mount point, so easier to work with, just a case of spacing, as opposed to totally starting again with new adapters. They are 343 or 342mm discs, cant quite remember i just spaced to fit, getting the longer bolts was a challenge as they are 10mmx1.25 metric pitch, odd size and not even AP racing had them, i had to order 25 from Germany! They are floating discs and you can adjust float by fitting different bobbins.

A guy i know bought some clearance stuff from a company that shut down, so a good deal, i bought brand new calipers and discs, had to buy the button fitting kit from AP though. But they are AP discs £300ish each plus bells at full money, or so they told me.

Does everything you buy come from a guy you know? wink

Seriously, I'm going to need to upgrade the 4.2 brakes on mine and it does seem this is the solution that is proven and involves the least stuffing around (though as jap parts are cheap over here I am wondering if I'd be better off getting a set of skyline brakes or something from a breaker and paying the extra to get the mounts made up).

If your guy has any more to offload incl discs, calipers, hubs I could be interested.

I sold the 250mm discs and 6 pots to a guy who is having his M3 converted to LS3 power by Tinker. I bought the whole lot see!? You are in New Zealand if i am not mistaken? It HAS to be ricer discs as they are the same PCB for you, but some AP's around the outside. YHM. wink

Paul, any chance you cam give me the spec of what you've done - please.

I have some '6' bolt calipers to fit over the winter, but just can't decide on disks etc.

What is the required clearance for the disks with caliper that you've fitted? I was looking at 330 mm disks as I want to keep my 17" RL as I have track rubber on them.

Thanks again

Tim

Hi Tim, these are spaced out 19.5mm from the upright, i had to "relieve" the edges of the caliper to fit flat enough on these discs, i only had to take a small amount off, but you certainly would not get any bigger than these under them. I used two of the original TVR spacers and had Craig at Dyno Torque mill some spacers to the correct thickness, then weld them to them so i dont have everything making a break for it and rolling around the floor if i have to take it apart. Some bloomin stopping power there now though! I can give you part numbers of bells and discs if you need them, i can also try one of my RL17's over the top?

I tried the new combo out at Oulton Park today, I put Carbone Lorraine RC5 compound pads in front and rear....yikes be jesus it stops now, i had Toyo's on the front too, i took a freelance journo out in the car and he was sooo impressed with the way went and stopped. Really really pleased with them recommended!

Paul,

Not that I doubt you for one minute but could you confirm those part numbers, I've been on to my friendly AP Racing supplier and they've told me the bobbins are the wrong ones and that AP don't normally sell the bells separately from a kit.

Are the bells drilled for out PCD or will I need to get them machined?

Oh, you said you bought extra bolts from Germany, do you want to flog 10 onto me? biggrin

Many thanks

Tim

When I enquired to AP about floating discs for cerberas they refused to sell me any and said they would only do kits they had engineered themselves which at the time was just for Subarus I think .. maybe you need to find the car that the original kit fitted and order that instead and not mention anything about any other cars you may wish to fit them to? It may have changed recently but I rather got the impression AP didn't want to sell anything floating that they hadn't sorted themselves as a standalone kit.

Hi Tim, i will check in the catalogue on the bobbins, but i physically took it all to AP HQ, and a man in an AP shirt helped me out, and it all works dramatically well!! Those bobbins give 0.2mm of float, 2 of the part no's could do this. The others gave more, upto 0.7mm if i remember rightly. PCD was straight on NOTHING was machined or altered, only the caliper was fettled slightly to be relieved for the bigger disc. The bolts i bought from Germany were the X4 90mm long ones i used to mount the caliper, they are a silly fine 1.25 fine metric thread, the ones to bolt to the disc you will be able to source locally would have thought

Bobbins spec page- http://apracing.com/info/info.asp?section=Disc+Bob...

I definitely remember my bobbins (0.2mm) being the one furthest up the page as they were out of stock of the other. As for not selling the bells separately what do you do if you bend one? If not i have a man who can PM me.

Cheers Paul,

Have gone back to BG to get remaining prices.

This winter is going to be expensive - two sets of new 'boots' (wet & dry), new G'box cogs and a brake upgrade!

I better be quicker next season to justify this lot. wink

Thanks again

Tim

Bit of an update, just in case anyone else is hoping to do this mod'

Just heard back from BG Developments...

I have spoken to A P Racing but the CP2494-1570 mounting bell is part of a disc assembly for a TVR 440T that A P only supply to TVR Power so unfortunately we are not able to supply these bells to you.'

So, call to Dom I guess.
