Excuse the slightly silly question, but I need one new tyre (wear indicators are now flush) I will obviously change the pair. Now my current tyres are Bridgestone S02s and I am looking at Toyo T1Rs as the replacement. What is the general consensus on keeping all 4 tyres the same make? Will having 2 different makes front and rear cause any issues? Front tyres have loads of life so am not wanting to change these just yet.

Personally I try to keep all 4 the same, but needs must etc. I think there's a few on here who do mix and match, and as long as you keep them paired up (eg fronts the same) dont think its a problem?

Some people use different makes/types front and rear on purpose. A tyre fitter who was very in the know once told my friend with an Escort Cosworth to fit (and i may have got this mixed up) directional tyres on the front and asymmetrical on the rear i think it was? I assume it was something to do with them both doing different jobs and the different types of tyres being better at those jobs? Anyone who knows more please enlighten me as i am intrigued. I have used this website for information in the past and i think it covers EVERYTHING tyre and wheel related but dose not say about different tyres front to back being better worse or even ok? http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html

T1R's are great, they'll be fine at the back.

I've run mixed sets and matched sets, and not found enough of a difference to worry about. I'm sure if you drove on the "ragged edge" you'd spot something, but I wouldn't worry (within reason!).

T1Rs are great, both vfm and in performance - I currently have them on all four corners but will be needing a change soon! biggrin
