I recently changed my oil to MOTUL 300 Competition fully synthetic 15w60, does anybody know what will have to be the normal consumption for the oil? I heart some strange things for 1,5l every 500 miles. Is this true?

Anything upto 1 litre per 1000 miles is considered "normal" - 1.5 litres per 500 and its time to call Houston.

Litre per 1000 miles seems to be the norm. Some use more, some less

Checking the oil on anything less than a perfectly level surface produces some mad results smile

Returned from Germany recently having covered 1150 miles. My normal parking space at work wasn't available so I parked in another space with the car facing slightly down hill. Took dipstick out in the morning & returned to test 9 hours later, to find not a single drop registering on the dipstick yikes

I put a litre in & did the same test the following day but parked in my normal space, to find I'd overfilled it smile

Kind of depends on the oil weight too. I've read quite a number of times on here recommendations to change to a thicker oil to mask oil pressure problems, and you'll get less oil consumption with thick oil. Doesn't mean your engine is any less worn out though.

Also depends on your driving style, the more you push the revs up the more oil will be consumed, i guess on the twisties in Cyprus you ll be pushing 2nd and 3rd a lot so may have higher oil usage

I must be lucky just about 800 miles in my first Cerb, check oil and water each time befor starting in the morning use 0-40 synthetic I think previous owner reccomended and have had to put about a cup full in to keep it spot on the line. Not a drop or drips from underneath at all. I may have grey hair but treat her like my women warm her up slow, go gently with her till she nice and warm then hoof it till she screams, we also like it sideways now and then!! She loves it sideways with a little squeel makes me grin?
