hi, has anyone on here done this? I need to place them and am looking for any tips on how to easily remove them.

I`m afraid this rebuild list just goes on and on, but I`m sure it`ll be worth it in the end.hehe

Im told that they're just held in with TVR magic silicone. Should be pretty easy to lift them out once the heads are off I would think.

cheers guys, taping them out seems the logical solution, there is certainly plenty of the black stuff around the seating.

hi Ian, no , thanks for the offer, but I don`t want to add to your collectionhehe

I think the marks in the liners are the result of the engine possibly having a leaking head gasket at some time in its life, and been left to stand for a while, hence the rust appearing above the top piston rings.
will have a chat with Andy monday about replacements ect.

It's nice, though not at all surprising, that Clive wants to learn about how to do things properly with his engine,if he was trying to do a quick 'bodge' job,we could call it "doing a Joo"rolleyeshehe

well I`ve removed all of the liners, the block is completely stripped down, all drainplugs removed and a good dose of gunk applied, then all blown out with a presure washer, you wouldn`t believe the green crud that came out from around the bottom of the barrels in the water chamber around the cylinders, I`ve seen similar crap when cleaning out my garden pond! hehe

Interesting pics, thanks.

I suppose the liners aren't made of aluminium ?

er, no, the liners are made from steel and press into the aluminium crankcase.

Nice one Clive, was it pretty easy getting the liners out, after all?
I'm just looking at your block and wondering if they all have 4 bolt mainsscratchchin
Does anyone out there know if this is normal,or is it an upgrade?

Interesting pic of the block to. Is there room for crossbolting the mains caps or fitting a ladder girdle?

ETA That awfully nice 007 Spend chap has announced that the sump is pretty strong.

Are you asking because your considering building an AJP with forced induction,Mike? That could be one hell of an engine!yikes
I've heard people talk of FI on an AJP,but have any been successful?

^ I'm interested, they do have potential but I've never had a really close look at one. I can't see why a set of low compression pistons and a rebalance hasn't already been done though. Some engines have hepolite cast pistons so not good to start with them for any extra power production so you may as well go forged anyway. It would be a cost route effective to more power and you'd gain loads of mid range grunt. The block underside looks nice and strong. Using low boost say 5-7 psi wouldn't tickle it's tummy smile
