Had it a bit on mine since I have had it, not got any worse in 3 years so I live with it and in fact just work around it subconsciously. Mine will certainly never pop out once properly engaged and clutch is back up, just when you were a bit less than positive or rushing a change - I have simply adjusted my gear change to hold it firmly in until I know it has taken, don't even know I do it now tbh but Mrs Cloth drove the car the other day and it popped on her 4 times in one trip hehe

Poor Mrs Cloth, I hope she doesn't have things popping out on a regular basis elsewhere

Back on topic and I dont want to spoil the fun but Al I would expect this to be due to either worn selector forks or 'dog' teeth on the baulk rings as this is the usual cause of jumping out of gear on the overrun. Sorry for that contribution frown

My car did this when I first brought it. I stripped the gearbox earlier this year expecting worn syncros etc only to find the little plastic sliders on the end of the selector forks completly knackered. This was causing second gear to not be fully selected when changing. Because mine had been jumping out for a while I ended up changing the gear aswell. If your have to buy any gearbox parts then source them from the states as they are less than half the price than here.

nice to know they are only plastic ends and not one piece forks, no doubt cheaper and easier to change wink

Got this problem on mine, unless you're really positive with the downshift it will pop out of gear. Been like it for about three years (40k miles) not really got any worse. I will at some point get the gearbox rebuilt which will hopefully solve the problem.

Neil.

Mrs Cloth...
How touching hehe

Mrs Pants drove my car once but she's quite small so needed a cushion and the seat forward and upright, but thought the clutch and gearchange was a bit heavy. Oh well, never mind eh wink

Funny thing on my car is that its not on overrun, you can put it in and let it slow, its when you put the accelerator back on it pops out...strange, if others have had this but not got any worse then ill just leave it untill gearbox needs rebuild.

selector forks then as not pushing second gear far enough to mesh cleanly

I've had something similar on one of my race cars. It ended up being engine mounts that allowed the gearbox to flex against the linkage and the linkage to drag the gearbox out of gear.
