Im looking into costs of rebuilding my current box as 2nd gear is annoyuing me with the crunch but rebuild kits and labour costs are quite expensive, where as some boxes on ebay are going from £100 to £400. they are lsiting them as t5 borg warner sierra cosworth 2wd boxes.

I know the cerb has a cosworth t5 box but did ford differ the t5 design on the sierra's back in the day?

what year of sierra do i need the box from, are there any particular part numbers to match. will nay T5 fit or do they need modyfying even when you match the correct boxes (ie doe mount need to be switched etc.

Any help is appreciated as i want to start getting all the parts ready for winter tinkering. thanks in advance

At least 2 types I think, with different locations for the gear selector thingamy which is of course going to be rather crucual - one type has it at the end

the other, closer to the middle

Tvr ones being the latter I think.

just spoke to a chap from gearbox man and he says the box would be the one with the gear stick slightly further forward from the back of the box. t5 248 apparently

very tidy prices aswell.

Rebuild with a new rebuild kit, synchros, bearings etc 310+vat

rebuild kit on its own 185+vat.

It's your gearbox, though when mine failed I had the upgraded Quaife kit put in there.
There are a lot of mods done, also two ratio sets. I now have the close ratio's in mine, it's the best performance upgrade you can do.
Yeah you loose a bit of top end speed, but 167 must be enough for 99.9% of the time, if you realy must.

Personaly it's the 0-100 range you'll be using mostly, and beleive me it accelerates like crazy if you give it some.
0-100 in 8.6 is still fairly rapid, unless you spend silly money or go lightweight.

You'll have seen this allready, the first on is what I went for.

check the picture on their site, that's got the stick at the back.
