Title says it all really, sadly I have to report one less Cerbera on the roads.
Going down the M4 on Saturday night, sudden downpour, hit a patch of standing water, 360 degree spin into the central reservation.
It's all very annoying as I was doing way less than the speed limit due to the weather, couldn't have gone faster even if I had wanted to as there was so much traffic.
What's really getting to me is the little things, just put a full tank of petrol into it, new badge on the back from Leven, new MB Quart speakers, oh, and a new air freshener.
The really scary thing was thinking we could have been hit by another car, but thankfully no one else was involved and myself and my better half walked away with nothing damaged but my pride (apart from the car, that was damaged. A lot in fact.)
So suppose the battle begins now with the insurance company, I've not had any dealing with this sort of thing before. What should I do/expect?
Clearly I have to ring them etc, but what else?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I deliberately left mine at home yesterday and went to Snetterton in the Land Rover instead.
Get what happened written down. The process will take a bit of time and it is easy to forget the details which you will need for the claim.
The quality of your cover and Insurance company will have a major effect on your claim. Was it agreed value or market value, loan car or not, size of excess. Expect it to take 4 to 6 weeks to get your money if no problems. It seems to take some companies nearly 2 weeks to get an engineer to look at the car these days.
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks chaps.
We were off to a friends fireworks party and he really wanted me to bring the Cerb for his little lad to see. I said no problem if it wasn't raining, if it was then I'd not bring it. Wasn't raining when we left, I should have turned around when the heavens opened.
Still, no one was hurt and that's what matters - the car can be replaced.
Yes, will most likely get another Cerbera.
Re the insurance, I'm with A-Plan - not an agreed value though.

Bad bad news, really feel for you matey.
Sorry to hear about your accident. I used to drive my t350 from Norwich to York every week. On numerous occasions I had to use full lock to keep the car going in a straight line.
I presume the light weight of the car combined with the toyo's are a recipe for disaster with standing water on the road.

I hate this time of year
Me too ..
Remember last year - there was 3 removed in one week..
and the newbies must think us old timers such wimps when we say - take it easy in the winter.
Been there, seen far too many wiped out

Spoke with my friend earlier (the one we were on our way to see) and he's feeling guilty - completely silly of him, I've told him that these things happen and that's the way of things.
I was touched by how many people stopped to help and offered to wait with us, really nice of them.
One 'gentleman' just leant on his horn as weaved around the people trying to help - not a very nice man.
Sorry to hear of your loss, Sat night the conditions were bloody awful, I was driving to a friends party around the same time on the Hogs back in Surrey, fortunately in an all wheel drive Subaru Legacy, not the cerb, and even then the first large puddle i hit at 45/50 was pretty scary, instant aquaplane for a second or two, so I can imagine how easily a cerb could be upset in similar conditions.

Commiserations on your loss but very glad to hear that you were both OK and that no-one else was involved.
What tyres was she wearing ??
Toyo's - always been okay in the past, I think there was just too much water on the road. What tyres was she wearing ??
How bad is the car

If you're wearing 888s or similar - get some winter tyres guys, there are plenty of s/h rims sets out there and it's got to be worth it. £400 for a set of tyres and rims or loss of your P&J, no contest in my eyes.
I've got to agree I dread the winter, last year didn't seem to be too bad, but the attrition rate of our cars between Nov-Feb is scary!
May have to open a book on how many 'I was just coming out of a round about...' threads we get.
Sorry you're car's a mess, but glad you're okay.
