Sorry guys - just moved his from General TVR posting:

So, still over the moon with my new S6!

Another silly question I'm afraid:

I would like to hammerite a part of the rear chassis this weekend - towards the back - this means jacking up the rear of the car.

Question is, being a tubular chassis, is there anywhere in particular I should use as a jacking point - the last thing I want to do is damage the car!

I will be using a trolley jack and stands

Any suggestions, gratefully received.

PS - my car has no cigarette lighter for the sat nav - is this normal? Or have aI just not found it!

Cheers

Simon

ciggy lighter in mine is sort of below the heater controls, in the centre cubby hole bit, near the "main" key, if that makes sense.

You should be able to see the ashtray, an oblong black plastic thing, it's above that.

many cerbs don't have ash trays so I guess possibly some don't have a fag lighter.

I couldn't see the fag lighter on that diag. Lol! Now seriously you can only jack one side of the car up and only place axle stands at the rear? ;-) Mine has a fag lighter but no ash tray. I think it was down to original owners requests?

The ash tray is really just an access panel for repairing the fag lighter wink

I would advise against using them jacking points because there might be a bit of corrosion around there??

Mine has had an axle stand, or jacked where the axle stand is shown in past an it now has a nice dent in the tube!

Also have you noticed how many Cerbs have little cracks just below the outer edge of the rear window. Jacking on the outrigger may stress the body???

I jack off the main chassis without any problem.

Mind you having said that, it is in the workshop on a lift supported on the four outriggers while they do the service.

Never noticed the cracks you talk about. When cerbs first came out there were issues with jacking and windscreens cracking (if I remember correctly). But as you say the chassis' are wafer thin these days so jacking is becoming more risky!
