as its running really sweet after coming back from the garage (again!) found an excuse to take the cerbera out for a spin to pick up a takeaway (stuff the diet, its saturday).

I drove through Marsh Farm, one of Luton's, and indeed probably the country's dodgiest spots, on my way back. As I approached a mini roundabout near here

As Im getting closer to the little roundabout, I become aware of two bicycles approaching from the right, but on the pavement or grass, not on the road itself. They catch my attention as they're pedalling harder rather than casually. I'm about 50 yards off, just driving normally. They're getting close to the mini roundabout when the leading cyclist , for no reason which I could ascertain, goes pretty much head over heels off his bike, in true comic-book fashion into a lamppost. He picks himself up and I'm now close enough to identify the pair as a black, perhaps carribbean father and son unit. the presumed father is still holding an open can of stella, which he bemusingly somehow hasnt dropped during his incident. They're both just gaping at my car as I head past, through the mini roundabout, and , with the window half open, I catch a loud exclamation from the older gent of "Rraaaass" (for those of you familiar with such urban exclamations). I'm nearly in stitches as I head off, 70% sure that he's actually crashed into the lamppost purely due to the distraction of seeing my car (I'll never know for sure!), so a quick safety check and I give it a little flick into first, and light up the rears, she snakes gently over the next 10 metres or so, a foot to the left, a foot to the right, then straightens up and traction as I let off the gas. My pleasure in the little show off display is completed when I note from my rear view that the sharp overrun cracks which split the silent night air, initially mistaken for a few seconds as gunshots by the two observers, have been accompanied by some flames (a reflective sign behind being the giveaway in this case!).

indecipherable shouts , presumably of approval, are the last I hear as I head homeward, still chuckling away to myself. Another memorable moment courtesy of the cerb!

Can't believe such a clicheed lamppost incident occurred!

What part of Luton are you. Used to live not far from there.

heh yeah, im on a street called woodmere, its pretty good (as far as luton goes), although very dishearteningly, a neighbour has told me he's recently been attacked on the path through the park which shortcuts to sainsburys by 15 or so youths, totally unprovoked, and most shockingly of all with weapons , something called a "sock" which is apparantly something akin to a medieval mace. didnt take money or anything, just mentioned some crap about "our turf" , although confusingly he lives here, and they didnt?

Cue my standard "state of the country/worlds going to pot" or similar rants.

Suppose we should have a mini Cerbera hoon one day, I am sure Nicky would tag along.

Socks are an old method becoming popular again. Not a problem by themselves, but when filled with steel bearings or similar then flicked round fast they are effective.

Used to be used for 'walk by' punishment attacks and the like. Innit.
