I have been haveing intermittent problems with my doors and windows which are gradually getting worse.

Either the drivers door won't open at all, the windows won't fuly go up, or the doors will still open even when the alarm is activated.

If I unplug the door control unit for 30 secs and plug it back in things seam to be fine for a short time but then the faults return.

I am thinking that the control unit ME0154 needs replacing but I have been unable to sorce one of these from a breakers.

Thought I would check if any one has experienced problems or resolved similar problems to this before shelling out for a new unit from a dealers which no doubt will be pricey.

Cheers
Mark

I'd clean all the connectors behind the door cards as they may be corroded. Not a big job, just remove the allen screws around the door card to remove it. Be careful of the wiring as you pull the card off.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE WIRING CONNECTORS GO ON THE ME0154 CONTROL UNIT AS THERE ARE NO MARKINGS ON THE UNIT?

why not get the wiring diagrammes and take it to an electrician, surely they can fix some up and will probably be better quality.

You may find Douglas Valley or Bell Hill may have one but you'll get no warranty with them. The RG item will have a certain amount with it plus it's been refurbed where-as the breaker ones will be fresh out a car and could possibly fail tomorrow.

Also make a note of the connector locations as they will fit it the wrong holes!!!!

I had my box open to try and find a similar problem with my door/windows with the hope of finding only a few components to investigate, but the box is overly complicated with a dirty big IC on one of the boards. There are two boards piggy backed onto each other. One looks like a driver board and the other a controller.

I know, had them open myself, but surely a good electrician can take the original wiring diagram and make a copy and maybe make it better.

  • disclaimer - if you are an electrician, im not saying you are bad, you just may not have had the wiring diagrammes to help you

IIRC there was two dirty big IC's and two smaller chips that turned out to be simply transistor arrays? I remember all my relays and both transistor arrays checking out ok before i realised it was most probably one of the IC's and that i was in over my head so i bought another one. Although i managed to get a used one from a breakers eventually i was thinking about using a small PLC in place of the control box but it may have taken some time to program with the alarm etc also being involved?

If I remember rghtly it is a PIC16 Microcontroler (overkill for 2 windows and doors???) so not only will you need the circuitry, but you will also need the program if the ROM has failed.
