Hi

I'm thinking of taking the plunge and I'm trying to find as much information as I can get to avoid being raped by the taxman.

Does anyone know where I can find documentation about CO2 and CO emissions for V8 cerbs? I've seen some rare mentions in the web and in here:

http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/car-specifica...
http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/car-specifica...
http://www.pistonheads.com/GASSING/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Does this information appear "officially" anywhere (V5, MOT certificate, owner manual, any kind of document)?

Thanks

Grodecki

All TVRs are registered as PLG and as such are charged at the fixed rate of £185 a year smile

Search around on the various TVR related categories on here. Not all TVRs have the correct log book and so some have had a battle to ensure that they dont pay the higher rates. Most are PLG though.

Sorry, forgot to mention is for export and in my neck of woods at least CO2 will be considered both for import and road tax.

Was asking the same question a few months ago. As previously mention car costs £185 in the UK, buts its good to know. As far as i'm aware anything with emmission over 220g/km falls in to the highest bracket. Good thing my cerb is 98 cause at 385 they are a planet killer

Raftom - try AC&VdO (Helio d'Oliveria) on +351-226154071. He was the TVR importer for Portugal and has a Cerbera down there.

Thank you all. Unfortunately last weeks news may put an indefinite halt in my projects. In a triumph of greeny nonsense over logic, our ever wise leaders decided to save us from ourselves and from 2008 to 2009 the car import tax rose dramatically. If last year the import tax for a 10 year old 4200cc car with 389g/km was "just" 7.596,50€ (of which more then 2/3 were already CO2), right now the same car will put me back 33.594,90€!! Oh and put another 700€ a year for road tax. mad

Brilliant. Now we can all die in perfect health, and with the clear conscience that polar bears will not drown because of us. banghead

Unless I can think in a way to outwit the tax man that pretty much stops any dreams of importing anything right now. There are still some movements trying to pressure the government to change the law (this seriously affected all used car import related business) but I doubt we're going to see any changes soon.

Thirty three and a half thousand euros??? Good grief, that's insane!eekyikesweeping

It'll get like that everywhere soon though, I suppose. It won't take long for governments to realise the true potential of "green" taxes and rake the cash in hand over fist. After all, they need some additional income to pay for their second home in London!

The green movement is great for politicians. If a few years ago they had decided to hike up the tax on 4x4's just because they're a bit of a pita, people would have complained loudly, but as soon as they say "oh, it's to save the planet from Global Warming" everybody says "hey, what a great idea!"

After the reports in the papers this week about google searching alledgedly costing the environment the equivalent of makeing a cup of tea I won't be surprised to see ministers considering an Internet tax soon, all in the name of the environment, of course.
