Cant really say about the engine, but pay special attention to the outriggers for rot, it may also be a bit suspect where the exhausts pass by the chassis rails. When i lifted the cover above the steering assembly for the first time i was shocked how bad it was. Maybe that might be worth doing if the owner lets you? Rebuilding a chassis as i had to maybe the most time and money consuming thing that could go wrong? HTH.

I'd suggest a little more research than asking for tips a few hours before.....

Corners of the outriggers near to the wheels trap a lot of dirt, hence can be rusty.
Check all the electric items work
See how the owner treats it. If he boots it from cold beware, These engines need to be mothered until they are warmed up.

Make sure the engine is cold and hear it start,it will sound dreadful but that is how they are,oil pressure should be 65+ on start up ,if he revs it hard cold walk away ,all the previous is correct ,check everything works (eletrics) at the same time , the acceleration should be relentless ,4.2s are a bit quicker reving, there should be a continuos service history, missing anything is a nono,if its due a 12000 service ,allow £1200 + as its a cams out to do the tappets, i have a 4.5 and it has cost me £60 a week to run without tax insurance mot fuel, they are a british ferrari and demand the best, ignore anything at your peril.
Im lucky i do most stuff myself but i cannot do big stuff so hope you have deep pockets.
One last thing you want to keep the revs below 3k before 80 appears on the temp guage then, enjoy!!! Hope you are photogenic every one takes photos of you but mainly the car.
