The bitch locked me out tonight
Discussion
For the first time ever I was locked out of the car tonight.
I reckon it's dampness inside the drivers door jack-plug as the little green light on the "lock yourself in" button was flickering intermittently and it went off once I'd let the window up or down or opened the door.
It looks like I'll be back in ripping mode again.
Oh, and I did plug out the control box but it didn't solve it.
The moral of this story ..... practice the "secret way", you'll probably need to use it one day.

i had to practice the secret way on the weekend, i was there for 15mins being really gentle as i thought i may have cracked or broke something. it was my best mate who worked out where to manouvre and how to open the darn thing.
i have noticed sometimes when the car has been locked for a while i get the "locked yourself in" button flickering like crazy. is that supposed to be? it seems to let me in ok though (when the battery has enough life in it)

Coincidentally, so has mine! The window drops but the solenoid doesn't fire - on either door, not does the boot button work.
It worked fine a week ago!

This is not particularly uncommon. On both my cars if they were left for a long time without being opened the boot and door solenoids became 'sticky'It worked fine a week ago!

I had to use the Freemasons entry method the other day. It's amazing how, when you know what you are supposed to do, nothing seems to go according to plan. You know that feeling of ' I should be able to feel this and that should happen' and there's nothing there because you are a bit out. I bet a gynaecologist would have absolutely no problem - straight in every time!
I took the doors apart and cleaned the connections in there.
No joy.
It made no difference.
It still failed to open either door or the boot on one occassion when pressing a button on the outside.
Luckily I was sitting in the car and had somebody else pressing the buttons outside ..... just in case.
The interior buttons still work fine.
I took the control box apart and the two PCBs in there are "floating" around in there.
The adhesive has broken away from the side of the box.
I reckon the box will have to be taken apart next to check for dry joints, etc.
Oh how I love that car ..... yeah right.

but I suppose I ought to know how to do it. Would someone who either knows of me or look through my profile e-mail me the procedure please? I understand if no-one wants to cos im billy-no-mates
I took the box apart, found a dry joint on one of the boards and got it sorted.
I put it back into the car and it seemed to be ok.
I went for a drive and got about 10 minutes from home when the power suddenly died, came back after about 10 seconds and then a horrible smell came into the car.
I pulled over but couldn't find what happened so I drove it home and parked it up.
It looks like I know what I'm doing tomorrow, eh?

OO-er! I hate those smells. If I can help, perhaps comparing something that's burnt (sorry but possible) with mine, give me a shout anytime.

If I think of it I'll text you in the next few days and we can arrange something for fitting them.
Oh, and the car is back to life again but the idle tick-over revs have gone from 850 to 1100.
It's driving fine now and didn't stall even when cold today.
