Well, for me anyway

I am fitting the rear hub & carriers, suspension, etc, and its proving to be fking knightmare.

How on earth do you keep 4 thrust washers in place while you slide the bolts through the bottom two upright holes that hold the lower wishbone to it??
I'm really losing my rag with it now, and may even hit the beers early, just to ease the frustration wobble whilst I'm at it. As I can see me still working on it at 12 tonight.

I'm sure there is a trick on how to do this that has eluded me thus far.

Have never done that job, but had similar probs with other stuff, you could try a little smear of grease or oil to hold them together, might work.

Use a smaller diameter Bolt or Screwdriver - If you have a suitably sized Centre punch this is even better as the taper on it helps to line everything up - push and 'wiggle' this into the opposite end that you will be pushing the bolt through. As you slowly push it in, slide the Nylon washers into place. So the wishbone and the washers are now loosely held in place by whatever you used. Then keeping some pressure on it, push and tap the Bolt into place, which slowly pushes out the 'thing' that you have just pushed in.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for your replies, but the drama is over. A few beers and some patient persistance has paid off.

Jens, I hear what your saying, but there was literally no room for the nylon washers to even squeeze into position. Lining it up wasn't the problem as I bought the Steve heath alinging tool when i bought all the bolts, etc. It was just a pig to actually get the upright to slot into position.
Feck I'll be glad when its all back together.

You need a mallet to "adjust" the mounting brackets wink

Can't say about this job but a little dab of superglue has always helped me hold washers etc in place

I had the same problem, it was a really tight fit, but using the method I described above, and using a very thin bladed screwdriver, I wedged the washers in place between each side of the wishbone and the bracket, then gradually wiggled them and the wishbone in a bit further until the thin screwdriver could be pushed all the way through holding them in place, then used my precision tool, aka 'the adjusting mallet' - to knock them in tight.

I used a G-clamp to help line up the akward ones.

That plus a bit of threaded bar ground to a point made life a lot easier for me when i did that job.

As for the back lower arm it almost seems as if it is the wrong shape on the RHS before it's fitted but is fine once it's in place ..... or was that just on my car.
