Usual story; car running like a dream, leave it for four weeks, start it up and something doesn't work that was working fine.

What doesn't work are three of the button switches on the steering wheel - wash/wipe, w/screen wiper switch and main beam switch, and neither of the indicators work.

The hazard warning lights work so there can't be anything wrong with the indicator circuits, and I might suspect the steering wheel ribbon cable but the horn still works and I don't believe the indicator switching circuit routes through that cable anyway.

All fuses are OK.

Before I start dismantling bits, anyone had anything similar?

Sounds like the ribbon cable.

Sounds like it could be a problem with the black box under the steering column. The indicators run seperatly to a circuit board under the dash then into the same control box as the steering wheel functions.
I'm not an expert but since changing all of my steering wheel buttons to alloy ones I have had all of the electrics in that area apart.

On a similar note I have had enough of steering wheel problems - the ribbon cable seems to be a fairly common fault - so I am in the process of replacing the steering wheel with a new momo one and I have re-located the buttons from the wheel onto the steering column surround.

Sorry I don't have an exact solution for your fault, and I know that re-locating the buttons may seem a bit extreme, but as I said I've had enough of the faults that seem to keep re-occuring.
