Well Friday ended as it started - I'll just put it
down to being one of 'those days'

Perhaps it was punishment for this thread....
CONCORDE - MY DILEMMA! but even my car turned on me last night!

Washed her and headed off to the Herts. TVRCC meet at
Tring with my bother's Griff behind.

Going through the lanes, came off main beam...no
lights... back on main beam, off again, no lights.

Eventually after flicking around they did come back
on. Not too concerned as there has always been
a poor connection somewhere as they don't always come
on at request, often just as I pull away.

Anyway, get to the pub, park, engine fails to turn off.
Rotate the steering column, poor connection perhaps,
check the wiring behind, nothing seems to want to stop it.

Engine dies after about 5 minutes, but the ignition
stays on and won't turn off, but shuts down shortly
after.

Hmm deal with this later I think, get out fine, lock
the car fine, but return to the car a few minutes
later and the car won't unlock.

Neither fob has any effect anywhere around the car,
then I notice the ignition is back on?!

Eventually with the help of some other owners with
some tools, we get into the car, unlock the doors and
the car starts off the button.

Best get it home I think, but the LED by the ashtray
is going crazy as are the hazard lights.
Doors won't operate, nor will the windows.

Ok, so it's an alarm issue I guess?
Get the car home, won't turn off again, so stall to
keep the peace with the neighbours and grab the manual
which I'd left at home for the first time ever.

Press the fob for 4 seconds and car returns to normal.
Everything working fine now.

So will that be the end of it, was it just the alarm
getting arsey and was it just the 4 second reset that
cured it or something else?

Any thoughts folks? Trawling through past threads, so
far seen it mentioned, but no answers as to how it was
was cured or why it happen...?

Cheers in advance.

There is a fuse that is responsable for so many things it isnt even funny (lights/ hazards/wipers/radio/cigarette lighters etc etc). Certainly some of the things you have said happened to us once (while the car was being scrutineered for Croft sprint - TYPICAL! )

Dad (being a Leccy engineer) decided to find out what every fuse does on the car and he wrote it all down and created a diagram of everything. Unfortunately not all the fuse boxes are the same and the diagram is in the car (currently at Joospeed for MOT etc).

PLEASE dont go exploring the fuse box with a car in gear!!!!!!! We removed one and it caused the starter motor to turn over and over until it was replaced!!!!!

Its a miracle that everything on that car works!! Will talk to dad when he gets back later to see if he has a copy of the diagram somewhere...

Hi Glad you got home OK. I stood by your car and pressed the fob for about 30 seconds and all periods up to that last night with no effect. Thinking about it it could be a short somewhere, if it's done it once it's likley to do it again so I'd get it looked at. See you next month...

Thanks again Jasper / Justin and co for your help last
night.

It was a pretty uneventful trip back for the most part,
just sorry it was such a flying visit from my brother and I.

I think the problem was resolved more by luck than
judgment, although the 4 second fob pressure certainly
did resolve it finally.

I am sure there is a loose connection for the
headlights, although they behaved tonight, but I will
have it looked at.

Thanks again and I hope to actually have a drink with
you all next month.

Hi Joe

Sorry, probably misled you, I meant the owners
handbook which I got with the car.

There is a owner compiled CD of manual type issues
which can be obtained though.

Go create some weather...
