If you mean the cheaper ebay-style one, as opposed to the multi-piece job sold by a PH'er, then I've fitted one. Its a definite improvement in my opinion, as I always thought it looked a bit unfinished as standard. The only trouble is getting the contour right so that it sits flush, something which Ive still not got just right. Still, 14 quid well spent I reckon.

Second that, you do have to bang them in with a bit of force but worth it

The pressed ally one is, I think, better than the multi-piece one - I've had both.

While the multi one is well engineered, I don't think it looks as good.

I have the pressed/extruded one now, I had to bend it slightly to fit the contour of the centre console, but that was easy.

It looks like it's supposed to be there.

How does the gaiter attach to the ring? Does anyone sell new gaiters? Mine has come unstuck and agree it looks a bit sh!t, so might be tempted to get one.

I've got one of these and think it gives a nice 'finsihed' look. One point to note is that the surround area on my car wasn't flat to I have to bend (not noticeable) part of the Aluminium and use extra silicon to fit it in certain areas.

I got a gaiter from my local trimmers, a leather one for £5 and he even wanted to fit for me too.

Hi there,
I have sold the other style which consists of 2 rings that clamp the gaiter.

Yes, its well made and although Im obviously not impartial I think it looks better than the aluminium one that you bend. However, people like different things so in the end its up to you.

The shape of your transmission tunnel will determine the fit. All the cars are different so I have seen some fit really well, others you can see a gap. You can tighten the screws and this does "bend" the GRP a bit to make it conform to the ring if its really concave/convex and not flat around the gear lever. I have done this before when fitting a couple, but you have to be very careful as I suppose it could crack if you tighten the screws too much...

If you are interested in buying one, email me at djbeevers@hotmail.com

I have one up for sale in the TVR parts section of the classified, but will do them at a lower price since its credit crunch time!

Cheers
Dave
