i have noticed that my car never gets warm now the wonter is hear. if i start the car and go for a run on the motorway the temp will not rise much above 60 at best.

however it will get hot if left to idle for a long time. but from cold it takes more than 30 mins to get to 75 -80ish?

this means that its a pain to defrost and very cold in side blower never gets very warm.

is this normal? was going to check and see if i have a working thermostat but not got round to it yet.

Yes I would check the thermostat, and more importantly check that you do not have an air lock in the cooling system or that it actually has water in it!

My Cerb used to do that. Your cooling system is working fine but you have the thermostat with the lower opening temperature. There are two available, if you search, and I fitted a new one with the higher opening temperature (think its 72 deg for the lower and 85 deg for the higher). Now the temps never drop below 85 deg and the engine/car warms up much quicker. The low temp thermostat would be best for summer only/trackday use but I couldn't stand driving a cold car everywhere plus it has a knock on effect on the oil temps, and as standard the Cerb oil temps run cold in winter as it is.

I ordered an 84* stat for mine as I'm fed up being frozen in it.

Check to see if your car has a thermostat housing that can be opened and the stat inside can be changed easily or if it's a sealed unit.

Both are easy to change ..... so long as you have the right one.

I found out the hard way that there are two types used on the Cerb.
