on rebuilding the ajp v8 that is going into my griff, shownhere,
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I appear to have a piece of the puzzle missing, the pipe for the coolant that is part of the sump, sits down on top of the water pump, with new O ring in place, and the pump body has a machined flange face and 2 tapped holes in it, so it would appear that a flange would bolt this pipe down onto the pump.

But, for the life of me, I can`t remember removing such an item when I stripped it down, and have been very careful to put bits in labelled up tubs and containers, ready for the reassembly, so either I`ve been a numpty and lost it, or it wasn`t there in the first place, so any help greatly appreciated from you guys.

I reckon if there is a flange of some sort it can only bolt down from one side, and the other bolt hole is directly underneath the pipe, so hardly any clearance for a bolt head of any type, so I`m wondering if its some sort of horseshoe looking arrangement, as there is only a small shoulder on the back face of the pipe, which may be enough for a u shaped clamp to get some amount of purchase on.

pic of the pipe and pump flange here;-

I've just had a look at mine and its exactly like yours (apart from the tasty gold paint and being really filthy smile )

There is no flange or anything bolted into the threaded hole.

cheers mike, I take it the pump was originally from another make of car where a flange was used to clamp the pipe down.

I think its just typical TVR story- just fit whatever's lying around at the time, which (if i remember correctly) on my car was a sump that has the flange and bolt holes integral to it. Is a later style sump if that helps.
