Hi there all,

Finally got some time to say a few things!

To start, had the pleasure of owning a cerb for a couple of months now - done nearly 2000 miles, and loving every minute! As a newbie to owning a cerb (did I say loving it...) I have noticed a few things that need attention.

One of the more pressing things is that when I steer left, sometimes (not always and no pattern) the steering gets VERY tight. Only left and after going through about half a turn. Seems to happen when going slowly like parking, more than when driving (although it did feel a little tight around one bend in the moors one day last week ... )

Anyone seen this before? As for the squeeky brakes - get some shims from clevor trevor and get you cerb down to Corin, National tyres in Plympton to do his magic... no squeeks for nearly 1500 miles now (if you are in the South West/ Plymouth area)

Some assistance on this one would be great if anyone has seen this problem before. Oh, and how do you get to the gearbox oil refill hole without removing the exhaust!!!

Still loving it!

Clean and re-grease the uj in the drivers side wheel arch, never use a jet wash in this area.

As far as the steering goes, I'd first check the UJs, make sure theyre not crudded up with dirt, or worn. If so, remove, clean up, grease up and put back. Or replace if too stiff.
Then the track rod ends, make sure theyre not split/worn. If so, replace.

I'd do these first before checking anything else, as they're the cheapest and easiest things to replace.

Be me to it Nick smile

I had the same problem some time ago, it was just the UJ behind the front wheel, easy to fix by cleaning and greasing. If it is bad then the part is cheap to replace

There's also a possibility that the grease inside in the steering rack (where the steering column and the rack meet) has gone dry and hard.

It's quiet easy to check and sort.

If you check back through my old posts from about a year ago you will see pictures I posted of when I fixed it on mine.

Also as said in the post above you should try cleaning and greasing the UJ's on the steering column.
