Happy new year to all of you,
For those they dont know I live in Cyprus and i own the only TVR Cerbera 4,5 redrose in the country, make some job on the steering wheel(tie rod end) and brake pads, but the car is very dangerous after 90-100mph, making me very sad because i cant enjoy all this power it can give. Also the car make a lot of misfires, i ve changed the inlet trumpets to newer and more advanced but no change at all.
My mechanic told me that he have to put the car on the diagnostic and balance the throttles so it can run better without misfires, i am thinking of replacing the coil packs, now the car idles at 1500rpm and from what i noticed the rear exhausts are loose and too low, do you think is affecting the power or misfires? Please help.

Re: the misfiring

TBH coilpacks are regarded as consumable items by many, so get those changed before anything else - they're cheap (check the equivelant parts thread - they're off a Citroen ZX 1.6 IIRC, and come in at £39.50 per bank over here).

On the same theme, a new set of HT leads would rule out the possibility of interferance (what kind of leads have you got? some find that the Magnecor ones can cause problems, even from brand new)

If you can download the diag software from Dave Hind's site, and get your laptop plugged in (ECU is behind the carpet in the passenger footwell, connnects with a standard serial cable), then the throttle/adaptive figures will tell you if they need adjusting.

The other question I'd ask is when were your valves last adjusted? At my last 12k (which was actually done after 10.5k, we found that quite a few of mine had drifted way off the recommended clearances (8 thou on the inlet, 12 thou on the exhaust, IIRC), causing a worsening misfire around 2k rpm.

HTH

On the subject of handling, can you give any more description to what feels wrong? Could be as simple as getting the geo properly checked...

As mentioned - lots of useful stuff here:

Get the diagnostics running and it'll give you a better idea.
