Cerb got hit on the front driver's wing today. There are many quite deep scratches and I reckon it will need respraying. Now someone, possibly the perp or maybe a passer by very kindly left their address and phone number on a note, I have called but no answer yet.

So do you think I should contact my insurers since a respray of the wing may mean a front end respray to get colour match (££££) ? or do you think I can wait until I get a resonse from the note leaver? But how likely are they to pay...

Never had this happen before so any advice would be welcome. judge

How much would a wing/front cost to spray?

There is a TVR body shop in southend so will call tomorrow.

Only small ray of sunshine is I have some other small areas, lets call the historical battel scars that i can get them to do as well - passenger's door was keyed and driver's mirror has a chunk of paint out of it.

When the young lady reversed into mine a few months ago she had Direct Line phone me within the hour and everything was sorted and now the car is back as good as knew. So fingers crossed the same will happen to your car when they phone you back. As for the paint...Gerbil took three goes at painting mine to match the colour after the prang last year but this time first time I believe as he now has the correct colour mix. Fingers crossed if your paying it's only a small spray job and if the insurance pay lets hope for an all over body job.

yep, Direct line are great, when I rolled my Wifes Discovery they collected the car the next day, Assessed it as a write off on day 2, offered me a good price for it and had the cheque to us within 8 days, awesome service!

Back to subject, have you looked at any CCTV footage? You know under data protection act you can ask to see any local camera footage, may be evidence of the incident?

well I guess that's why I should just phone the insurers since they will sort that out if needed.

should be fine nice person answered the phone and admitted they just did not see my car - too low. Insurers details exchanged and we'll see what happens.

Good to know that there are still some honest people out there, I think they're becoming few and far between. yes

Just don't screw them over and claim to have your whole car resprayed, I'm not suggesting you would, but fraudulent insurance claims cost us all.

I agree, she was very honest and NO NO NO I wouldn't do that! It's just that i have heard people having a nightmare with colour matches and the fact that a lots of the Cerb is one peice of GRP.

I'll see what the specialists down at PR Wood say and take it from there.

I would get onto my ins co soon as you dont want to be accused of delaying (see ts and cs in your policy). If they then settle direct to you then fine. Or if their ins co is inolved then your co deals with the paperwork etc or if they have left a false no etc then your ins co is ready to step in.
