Used the Cerb to get to the station this morning and the journey involved going through some fairly large and wide puddles. I don't think they were particularly deep (2-3 inches), but the wave of water came quite high from the front wheels! Got me wondering if there is anything to worry about from the water that would have been sprayed up from the inside of the wheels!

Not sure but you need to watch out for a wake infront of the car and going into the air intake.

No. The amount of water thrown up by your tyres on a normal wet road at speed would find any litle holes.

Few holes and entry points around the pedals so have a look there, but again you would already know if you had a leak here.

I would say do a search for BNG 2006 and see what a cerb can go through but ...........

'The search facility is currently under maintenance.

PH would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes'.

If it's of any help, I came across a flooded road in mine, must have been up to the door seals, couldn't go back due to a heap of traffic, so went for it. No problems whatsoever.

I also did some snorkelling in the Megane once. I thought a flood wasn't that deep so went through it, it wasn't until I realised that the metal bars covered in water were that of hand rails on a bridge as to how deep it was yikes

Bit of water over the bonnet, made it though, still running a year later so can't have done any damage.

With a cerb you would be ok in any depth of water up to the numberplate i would have thought. Only thing that will stop it is the air intake. You would have to be very unlucky to get the electrics wet.

indeed, a friend of mine tells a story that he drive into a pool of water in a sierra and the engine flodded and stalled. He pulled the car out and left it a while "to dry", then started it and the water in the pistons would not compress and everything went boing.

That's his story not mine. biggrin

Just one point... I went through a deep puddle once and noticed that the passenger footwell was very wet after (this was when I decided to fix the leaks once and for all!). When I investigated further, there were two holes in the floor of the footwell (as well as the other 'usual' leaks). God knows what was originally there, or why, but I sealed them up with the rest.

Thanks all, should be ok then. It was the electrical bits I was most concerned about, went through all the low down electrical bits; starter motor is tucked on top of the gearbox, as are the lambda sensor connections and the big fuse. I also thought that the undertray would deflect a lot of the water down.

Hopefully it will be ok to start when I get back to the station later!

Just watch out for the knobs in 4x4's who seem to delight driving through the puddles at huge speed to put a wave over you.

Excellent pic, though the wisecracks about our cars being canoes are only being confirmed on this evidence... hehe

That'll be because the other parts of the car leaked and those holes were how the water got OUT!!!

Thats how I clean underneath my P&J. Looking forward to this year and all the shows as after last years hassle the car is looking like a new pin.
I remember in the pub somebody asking does it flood down the road and I said 'no', how wrong I was, lol.

To answer the above post, they were as it used to leak and that was a great way to ensure it drained?? LOl Love the pics I guess if you had deep water you HAD to go through would be best to unclip the air intake and then would be no real problem though I do reckon she might float when it got about a food high??

Just around the corner it got worse and I mean worse with a torent of water coming across the road. Everybody made it safely home I recall and it's one day that will go down in TVR BNG history.
