Owned a Chim for 9 years and always had it serviced and mot'd at my local garage.
I feel my Cerb should be serviced somewhere who has a better knowledge of the engine etc... main dealer or specialist, any advice would me apreciated.
I live in Croydon Surrey and work in Horsham West Sussex.

To be honest its only an engine, they all work on the same principals! Most of the servicing is as any other car eg oil and filter change, plugs and leads can all be done by anybody even remotely useful with a spanner.
Im far from an expert but since ive got the cerb ive tried to do alot of the work on it myself, not the harder stuff(slave cylinder change, altho it looks straight forward from the guides ive read and if you had a ramp) mind.....battery, plugs leads, starter motor, lambda's, clutch and brake bleeding, All the info you need can be found on here smile

Tappet check is your starter for ten. The engine requires the camshafts to come out for a tappet adjustment.

Hands up who's dropped a bolt down next to the cam sprocket then smile

lots of paper towels stuffed down every hole is your friend there!

Another vote for Andy at APM though for your servicing .. low labour rates, great standard of service, easy no-nonsense approach and won't pull the wool over your eyes. Top guy smile

Nothing wrong with Andy, I've used him a few times myself but given where you live and work I'd say Austec in Crawley is probably your best bet.

Another vote for Austec.
Also there is David Battys 'The Garage' in Guildford. Also the TVR centre in Barnet. All three are very good.

Andy was so busy I could not get hold of him, so took a chance on Austec last November!

Very pleased with their service! Especially the remap!!!
I think it was Russell who did mine! I quite like to chat to man who unbolts the cams!!

They will even drop you off at the station/bus stop!
Horsham may be a bit to far, but if you don't ask!!

Hey Corrine,
I'm in Croydon as well (East/Addiscombe) and make the extra effort to go a few more miles to Andy at APM + you can't argue with the Cerb गुरु - TrackCar.

Sometimes it's difficult to get him on the phone, leaving a message usually gets you a call-back within 30 mins, as he's always mad busy - a really good sign.

I've never heard a bad word said about him (unlike others down this way) and he's a top bloke.

If you feel like going for a local spin on a Sunday, ping me a PM.

Best,
Donny

Due to the location of your work you have a good choice between Fernhurst, APM and Austec all three have done work on my Cerbera over the years and they are have very good reputations.

But another option not mentioned is what is left of Mole Vally TVR.
They just North of Horsham on the A24 near Kingsfold. They would be the closest to you at work.
http://www.mole-valley.co.uk/page.php?cid=117

I was told they would probably charge "Dealer" rates, but not used them myself so could be totally wrong and they are competative?

But unlike Andy at APM who publishes his rates on his web site, but I can't find theirs.

Whereabouts do you work in Horsham? I live there and would be more than happy to drive past your place a few times a day, just so you don't forget what the car looks and sounds like!! biggrin

There is a yellow Cerbera a few miles from Horsham owned by Fubar. And there is a yellow Chimera just down the road from me. I will be getting the car out of my garage soon, just as soon as the tumble drier has finished, very domesticated me!! biggrin

Hi Mods wavey

You also need to edit Gas Man's post as it now reads out of context with the rest of the thread & implies that there is something wrong which obviously there is'nt rolleyes
I've deleted my comments Boders so perhaps you could do same?

I've heard a few unsubstantiated rumours recently regarding Austec, you may want to give them a ring before thinking about a drive over to them.

If I hear anything official, I'll let you all know. smile

I had a chat with Paul this afternoon and that's a fair assessment. I'm pleased to say I'm in for a service and MOT at the end of Feb, business as usual as far as I'm concerned. Just as well I took the time to pick up the phone rather than believing the damaging slights and chit chat being spouted.
