Dear All of those currently NOT on TCS' mailing list.....

Just received this offer in my mailbox.

"Track Car Solutions has introduced a new line into it's TVR suspension range .. we are now selling a fixed specification Protech damper and spring kit for 592.25 pounds including vat and postage, this is a saving over our bespoke kits of over 75.00 pounds!! We are still offering our bespoke damper kit service at the current price but we acknowledge that some people don't need the extra elements of customisation available and just require a high quality affordable suspension kit. To this end we have decided on relevant specifications for a range of generic spring and damper kits using the alloy bodied single adjustable Protech damper as a base. Our experince of many years working with this excellent quality effective damper unit means we firmly believe that this spring and damper package at this price range is unbeatable in the current market place for it's performance and reliability.

Also following on from a good year in 2008 with our Cerbera 4.5 induction kits and remapping, and also going hand in hand with a forthcoming TVR car club Sprint magazing article we are offering a time-limited offer on Cerbera 4.5 induction and ECU remapping. From now until the end of April 2009 we are offering a drive in drive out service for 765.00 pounds plus vat (879.75 incl) , saving you 200.00 pounds over the usual price but remember this is limited to work booked before the end of April 2009.

Best wishes to all
Joo"

For anyone who hasn't had the TCS induction yet - jump in your car and drive north - quickly of course.

Because the 4.2 is already a well sorted engine. It's a lot more free revving than the 4.5, and has a nice powerband 'kick in' characteristic to it that the 4.5 lacks. It's only when you get to 100+mph that the 4.5 will begin to inch away from you. Be happy that you dont have to spend a grand to sort it - it's a great engine.

Just been out in my new 4.2 today - only had it 2 weeks and now the roads are dry it's the first time I've had the chance to start to stretch it's legs..... WOW eek

I totally LOVE the way that it starts to pull strongly at about 4k upwards, and also just discovered the change up buzzer yikes Also like the pops and crackles on the overrun down from about 4k to 3k, heh heh heh

How long does it take to stop smiling after a good thrash???

And why does it bring out the hooligan in me? (e.g. gratutous throttle blips at junctions, getting the back squirming under hard acceleration in the low gears, driving round in a gear lower that any other car for the hell of it, etc?)

I know the 4.2 is a sorted engine but i wish we could have the option of induction kits, remaps and the chance to get some more BHP out of it.

Are there any sensible mods that are recommended for the 4.2? One of the ones I was considering is the chip that makes the engine run cooler from Joo at TCS. I live in town, and in heavy traffic the temp guage has peaked at 100 before the fans kick in and bring it down to 90 - 95. And that's in January - so what are they like in summer?

Has anyone done this mod and got any feedback?

Anything else worth considering?

you do! but sadly the gains aren't as big as the 4.5 boys get, but that's only because stevie wonder's slightly less talented brother mapped the 4.5 so what you're really doing with the 4.5 is correcting a flawed gem. The 4.2 is already nicely mapped, gains are small .. but you can flow the 4.2 inlets and remap and the gains are about 30hp, but it's about a grand to do it all.
Other remappers are available, your mileage may vary, some products may contain nuts etc etc

I have the trackcar cooling chip. It does just what Joo said when I bought it. It keeps the temp down below 95 at all times. Even in the little bit of summer last year I never had a problem. I can almost forget about engine temperature now.

PS/ the side effect is that the interior stays a bit cooler too so the aircon has a lot less to do (and is often not needed at all).

Of course apart from playing the numbers gain, would you notice the 10% performance difference and how long before you want more? I've been upgrading to bigger and bigger motorbikes and it doesn't take long to go from scared, to acceptable to thinking it's slow.

Well, apart from the latest...

I dont have a 4.5, but if i did i'd be having the induction/remap and the cooling chip fitted ASAP! They just seem too good not to do for the results you get from them! And although i cant go on my own experience, i can vouch for Joo in other areas! Top Bloke! He really knows what he's on whith!
