I am pulling my engine out for a spruce up and a check. After seing some of the photos of the AJP i would like to reveal the TVR emblem on the front of the engine as well as simplfy the engine but of course the a/c pump is in the way along with the belt and tensioner.

Is it a simple case of unbolting the a/c pump, tensioner, hoses and condenser? or do things need blocking off and wires messed with?

The bottom pulley I presume is left to rotate with no belt etc, will this add a few measley BHP as the crank doesnt have to turn the pully/tensioner and ac pump?

Would removing the a/c put a potential buyer off? not that the a/c is very good on the cerb's anyway but i wouldn't want to ruin my chances if i ever decided to sell.

My A/C works good. I would still have a Cerbera without it, but yes it would put me off as a potential buyer if a similar one was available with A/C.

In my 4 years of Cerb ownership i think i only used the A/C once or twice, and that was just to keep the unit ticking over. Not an essential piece of kit on a car such as a Cerb IMHO

Essential piece of kit and helps with demisting on a wet day.

Gas in system must be collected before you disconnect any of the components too.

You could always keep the components and refit them when the time comes to sell.

It depends why you want a cerb. If it is the ultimate raw car then the 20 kg you will save may be worth losing the a/c.

For me sitting on the start line with the a/c going and being cool and switching it off 10 seconds befor the start beats the weight saving.

Also if a sale is marginal it may tip the balance

there was not an bbssspp of gas inthe system when i pressed the relief valve. so all the pipes are disconnected.

I think i will remove the compressor and pipes and then re-install them and regas it if i decide to sell. i only use the car on the weekend and the odd sunny week day and the windows open is enough cool air for that.

Many people (especially dealers) consider aircon to be essential in a Cerb coz you can't take the roof off and you get a lot of cabin heat from the engine. Might make £1K difference to your selling price. Mine works fine and is good and cold.

I onlt looked at cars with AC when I bought mine two years ago but I have not used it once. I think this is a combination of the car generally only being driven on early morning hoons when its not that hot and prefering to have the windows open.
Like people have said I think its a major factor in being able to sell the car on. I would keep the parts if I were you.

A lot of the cabin heat I found was from the cats. Now I've decatted the cabin is a lot cooler in the summer, but I had to block off the air intake this winter biggrin

i plan on decatting.

what have people done for their decat pipes?

Can you buy them or have people had them made or DIY'd

I was thinking of giving my cats to my local machine shop and get them copied in stainless but obviously just straight through pipes with the right flanges on each end. but if they are available at reasonable prices i may sway this way.

I think i will kleep the a/c fitted now and have it regassed and see how cold it is, if its rubbish i will remove it and keep the parts in a box should i ever change my mind

How did you block off the air intake? I assume you mean the one at the front below the indicator...
