I have removed my engine from the cerb and i must have not seen one earth still attached somewhere.
now the engine is out,i have peered into the engine bay to see an earth from the earth bolting point just hanging there with a broken ring end. This must have come from the engine or starter somewhere but ive looked and cannot find where it came from nor locate the other half of the snapped ring end.
Can anyone tell me where it should be connected to?
also looking at the starter motor, is the only earth on that the thin black wire with spade connector that connects to the large grey twin plug? I know it earths via the engine

The engine earth point is one the sump, about 3" further back than the chassis earthing point (when the engine is in situ, of course). If you look on the n/s of the engine right at the bottom, you'll probably see a randon M10 caphead bolt - that's the kiddie.
The black "earth" on coming from the starter is just for the solanoid (hence its size), the motor itself earths through the casing. I would *highly* recommend running a dedicated earth from one of the starter mounting bolts directly to the battery.
I would (and have) also run a big earth cables direct from the battery to the airbox mounts - not only is it a belt'n'braces solution for engine earthing, but it's also where you're likely to put a jump lead if you ever need a jump start.
