That's some excellent footage.

I'm a member of the Midland Auto Club and quite fancy a blast up Shelsley Walsh - does much need doing to a standard Cerb to get it within the safety regs?

  • MSA license (not that expensive, just send off for it)
  • Race numbers
  • Timing strut
  • brave pills.
thumbup Shelsey Walsh is one of Dads favourites - the Cerb runs quite well up there. smile

Right,

I've got an MSA license (National Speed)
Timing strut and number can be sorted in short order.
Is that it? What about a fire extinguisher etc? Rollcage?

What class do you run the Cerb in? I did look in the Blue book last night which does nothing but confuse me TBH. It looks as though it should fit in the Road going specialist production cars class. However, S.70 states that it is for vehicles with a minimum annual production of 20 cars (OK) but in the engine requirements section (78) it states that the engine should be of a make and type originally produced in at least 5000 identical units originally available through normal commercial channels... (Not enough AJP8's made).

Will they let the Cerb run in that class anyway?

Hi Jim,

before the TVRC speed championship became so big we used to run in the ACSMC, sounthern speed and midland speed events - we were generally in standard production cars or modified production cars over 3.5 litre so you shouldn't have a problem getting in.

A standard car is fine and assuming that it is not over 105 dB will pass scrutineering

once you have done shelsey (the record in a Tiv is 32.4 seconds) come and play with us at the TVRCC speed championship. 3 or 4 cerbs run regulaly and we ofeten get 20 plus TVR's out at events. its very freindly and realy great.

Check out our website: www.tvrspeedchampioship.co.uk

have fun

cheers

Jes

Jes,

thanks for the info - couldn't seem to get the webpage to come up though, I'll try it later.

I think that a full championship is a bit much for me atm with two young kids and number three on the way! However, I would like a couple of runs up Shelsley if possible as I live nearby and go anyway. Certainly if no major mods are necesary then it looks do-able.

I also need to raise my involvement in motorsport to make sure that I'm well placed to get my little boy in a kart as soon as he hits 7 driving

It's missing an "n" in the middle, try this one

Don't think you have to do them all by any means, as far as I am aware plenty of people just pick and choose a few here and there, quite tempted (but slightly daunted) to have a little go myself redface

Excellent website - looking at how little is required to meet the regs I'm now really temptedbounce

The Cerb is a car that generally falls inbetween regs unfortunately, but as Jes says - best to just enter the car in a TVRCC speed champ round. We pick and choose to do a combination of TVCCspeedChamp and Midland Speed rounds - the latter has unfortunately lost too many TVR class competitors of late, but the TVRCC speed championship has never been stronger. thumbup

Be warned, motorsport is dangerous...

...ly expensive, prepare to get hooked.

Dear Cerbs Anonymous

I've had an S Series for 6 years, and love it, but every time a Cerbera turns up to a meet or show, I can't help thinking that I want one. Those videos are amazing too - it's an itch I just have to scratch.

I spoke to an owner last weekend and he said "just do it, you will not regret it".

SO I went to look at one (a 4.2) for sale, this morning. It was absolutely unbelieveably gorgeous, and sounded fantastic. I need to sort out insurance and I'm having it. Definitely. Maybe.

I'm scared though! So much talk of astronomical bills. I've been reading threads on here for ages, and it seems that sometimes you're lucky, and sometimes you're not. Very few owners seem to reach the stage of saying "Sod this I'm off" and I am not expecting supercar performance to come cheap.

I felt the same when I bought the S, "God, what am I doing, buying a car reknowned for unreliability" but it has been worth every hassle, avery penny. Every time I drive it, I love it.

I guess it's the same but with bigger stakes!

smile Everything can 'potentially' cost loads of money. M

My Cerbera costs more to keep than the Chimaera, but I have done around 25,000 miles in 2.5 years, normal servicing, clutch etc, steering rack. But then the car IS 10+ years old so nothing there is over the top.

I find I love it so much, that I don't begrudge a penny. When something needs doing, I always aim to get the job done thoroughly - i.e. when I recently changed the calipers, I changed the brakes hoses too - just because it seemed to make sense.

The Cerbera has never left me stranded anywhere. It looks beautiful, sounds gorgeous and is wonderful to drive. As far as I'm concerned, I will find the money to give it anything it needs! I'm sure you will feel just the same with yours wink.

WHEN you buy it - can you post some pics? tongue out

Well, I bought it. I am now almost the owner of a 4.2 V8, in "Halcyon Heather" (I think he said the colour was) - a sort of metallic purple. I can't pick it up until the weekend though weeping

I must be mad. Mad, I tells ya.

Really really really looking forward to getting it home... I think it might take me several hours.
