Monrong all.

I have recently changed from 16" to TVR 17" wheels (std 4.5 wheels i believe).

On full lock the are rubbing.

Any ideas how i combat this?

You'll probably need to fit some stops on the steering rack, even bigger turning circle as a result!!!

Why is the turning circle a problem? Surely you just turn round by putting it on full lock and giving it a bootfull in first gear?

I'm sure my neighbours wouldn't appreciate that, and sliding the car into the garage may test my driving skills a little further than i could cope with!

Not sure you need spacers - just need to grind out arches?

isn't this the symptoms of the front springs starting to bow? causing the ride height to drop and therefore the rubbing.

the car doesnt look particularly low. As the problem only occured when i upgraded the wheels i assumed this was the cause.

You need to whip a wheel of to see where the rubbing occurs, in my case it was the inside of the wheel rubbing on the wishbone so I fitted spacers, your dealer will have em. If its's rubbing the wheel arch then you must have the wrong offset

but surely if these are stadard RL17s then you just need to grind the arch.

Check you have the correct tyres on the wheels as they can increase the profile of them

They should be something like

front - S02 235/40 ZR low profile tyres or simuliar

Rear - 255/40 ZR low profile tyres or simuliar

If you have adjustable shocks on the front get them cranked up and also check that the front of your car hasn't been `fiddled' with by a bodyshop at some time

I've never heard anyone needing to do that before, I'd be very reluctant to take a grinder to my pride and joy...............or my car for that matter

It is what the factory do, what dealers do and what is needed often when 18s are fitted. So i guess that when the factory first brought out the 4.5 that they may have had to amend the design of the inner arches slightly to accomodate 17s.
But the tyre size is a good call.

also check the tyre sizes and that the wheels are fitted correct way round as the rear tyres are wider than the fronts!

Sorry to butt in on your post....I've also developed a strange noise on tight left-handers - a fast knocking seemingly from the rear. Anti-roll bar maybe?
Any ideas welcome.
