I removed the inlet manifolds and I forgot about the spacers. they fell into the V and one down the inlet port but I have retrived them. can someone tell me which ones go where as i have 2 maybe 3 different thickness I think. Also how many spacers there are supposed to be incase one more has fallen down the cylinder.

(the cams are coming out possibly if i find iregularities on shim measuring and follower tolerances)so i will be able to retrive a missng spacer if one has fallen

there are 4, 2 on each side, they fit between the inlets and the tops of the rocker covers, they act as spacers when bolting up.(we are talking 4.2 here?)
if its a 4.5 then I`m not sure mate.

yes its a 4.2. i know the location of the spacers, they are spread over 4 mounting holes, but does each side have one thick spcaer and a thin spacer?

im sure i have some thin ones, some thick ones and some slighlty smaller than the thick ones.

yes thats a spacer but where the actual trumpets secure/bolt to the rocker covers there are thick washers/ spacers there to keep eveything level and pressure on the injectors etc. they are individual spacers that a bolt slips through.

Oh, I know what you mean now. Actually on my engine they were only fitted where the rocker cover bolts were also used to hold on a hose clamp or to hold the throttle linkage on. I would also be very careful about having them apply pressure on the inlets- I had loads of stress trying to work out why my lambdas were giving me funny readings, and the problem was (eventually) traced back to these spacers putting pressure on the inlets which created a moment and thus prevented the inlets from sealing against the head properly. They're honestly rock solid without any additional support.

I just had one spacer on each hole, about 8mm thick.

yeah I have them but im sure I only have 2 and the others are mis matched.

perhaps a previous keeper lost them and made do with a sandwhich of washers to bring the space out to 8mm
