Mines a 97 and they are fine. Think you may find earlier ones had a bit better protection.

likwise - i stripped and recoated mine 2 years ago and it had only surface rust - its a 97 car - i think alot depends on whether a car is garaged or not and how much it is driven in the winter

Hi there I was just reading your posts. Don't know if you have seen the photos of my chassis which I have just recently repaired, but after sandblasting it did show up quite a few weak points. My car is also a 98, is always garaged and never taken out in the winter. Before the body came off I did not realise the extent the rust had went through the top of the outriggers and it really did take the sandblasting to show this up. I don't mean to put a dampner on things but it worried me about how unsafe my chassis had become.

97 and mines fine. It's been well looked after during its life and I'm careful to inspect and touch up every 3-4 months.

For balance, 97 and ours needs a rebuild later this year. eekfrown

But it'll be better, stronger and faster once complete. thumbupevil
