Managed to shear the rod inside the plastic pin - any suggestions? I guess I could recut the thread on the rod end and fit a new pin then unwind the rod out a little more to secure it. Whaddya reckon? biggrin

. . . yeah thanks for that wink. The plastic pins are around £6 a pop, gawd knows what a new rod would cost if indeed you can get them (btw nothing at Bell Hill). biggrin

If you are able to recut thread, just go to Homebase and buy a new rod for a couple of quid.

Mine broke and I just taped a thread in each side and put a bolt in it. Bit of threadlock in there too and it looks perfect. Been working for well over a year too.

Self tapper with the blunt end cut off, screw the sharp end in one side before cutting though, and some burly pliers/wire cutters and snip the screw head off, twist the plastic end on. Fixed!

Think Clev Trev sells them. Bought one a while ago. Very cheap and not worth making one

The other option of course is to not do anything. My rod (ooh err) has been broken for the last year and I haven't been able to lock the bonnet in all that time.

It's good for, ahem, 130.

I ordered some locking rods and pins from Racing Green, after 2 months no sign, so I rang them and was told that they couldn't get them so the order was cancelled!!! Got the bits from TVR car Parts the next day

. . . interestingly a friend of mine only got to a little over a ton before it started lifting noticeably. I'm curious - do you have the front lip spoiler in place (and if so is it facing backwards or forwards?) biggrin

I do have the front lip spoiler and it faces backwards which should, like an aircraft wing only upside down, create low pressure underneath the engine bay. It works a treat.
