Sorry for the yawn-tastic post, but can we clear this up once and for all.
I've been running Pagid Yellows (RS4s IIRC) on the front for a little while and can't say I've been terribly impressed.
So now I'm sticking some new discs on the front, they might as well have some new friction material to go with them - so what's everyone favourites?
Mintex 1144s? Ferodo DS2500s? Something else?

Running DS2500's in mine and got them planty hot round Spa and the Ring last year with no pad/disc fade.

Can't say the same for the fluid though.

I had DS2500s (well, the same compund before they were called that) on my old Toyota and they were spectacular - absolutely transformed the brakes (albeit from barely functioning wooden items before)
My old man has 1144s on his MX5, and I think they're pretty impressive too (although I've not tried the standard items to compare)

It's also worth noting that there's quite a big price difference between the two - £95 for the frodos and £60 for the Mintexs. Still, both are cheaper than the Pagids they're replacing.

Ferodo DS2500's here too.

Abused at Spa with no problems even though they were smoking hot. Ok since too biggrin

I've got 1144's as I like them for road use. Soft, good grip, very progressive, but I tend to let the car cool after 20 mins on track so no idea if they seriously fade

1144's on mine as well, and they do the job for me, a good, progressive firm feel to them.

You need to decide what use you want them for. I have DSC2500 on mine as I found that the 1144 were over heating and helping to cause brake fade on the track, but were absolutley fine for normal road use.

Carbone Lorraine here, another step up from DS2500's but only if you need all the perfomance, work straight from cold, but squeal if you never use them on track. Really really powerful.

Graham, how are these on normal road use, being in mind I'm not a track demon like you (mind you - who is biggrin )

They are good except you do get a bit of squealling, but then I got that with the 1144s so perhaps it's my car. Going to give the Carbone Lorraines a try and see if they are as good as Brummie says.

Another vote for the Mintex 1144's here, never had a problem with them.

Right - I've decided on what some might see as a bit of a controversial choice.

Despite the car's track bias I'm going to go for the 1144s, on the basis that it'll force me to pull my finger out and get the brake ducting sorted. I did think about going for the 1155s, but my reasoning is that with ducting rigged up, any track-focused pad is going to be running too cool for the road, and Knockhill, which is where I do the majority of my track miles, will boil my fluid without some cooling, even if I did have fancy-pants pads.

I've been wrong about this sort of thing before, so I'll let you know how I get on...
