Well the Merc has, luckily I have the trusty S6 Cerb to get me to work.....again.

Took out AA membership for the cerbera and used it on my other 2 cars and not the TVR.

Well, my super reliable Audi is now in its 4th!! month at Audi. Guess who renewed his warranty with Audi just 3 weeks before it went wrong? wink

With hire car, the warranty bill is currently running at about £7k (not including the cost of sending a senior engineer from Audi UK out to Audi Germany on a training course for my car then sending him to Brighton on full expenses until the car is fixed yikes)

Wonder if they will let me renew next year? hehe

I know this is going to be hard.As you are a mechanical numpty.But could you explain the most simplist way as to why your car has been off the road for 4 months,and Audi has seen fit to send an engineer to Germany to learn more on the problem?.

The car was dropping fuel pressure from 4 bar to 1 bar under acceleration, putting the engine into 'limp home mode'

The garage went through the whole fuel system, replacing parts, testing, putting old parts back on and trying another part (fuel rails?, pumps, lines etc). Some parts have been on backorder from Germany, so a wait each time. Finally they decided it must be the ecu. This is bespoke to the DTM so had to have one built in Germany and shipped over (that was 2 weeks alone). Fitted...no difference.

When they had tested all possible parts, they scratched their collective heads and called in a senior technician bod from Audi UK HQ. For some reason he had to go out to Audi Germany on a course (in part to familiarise himself with the DTM model).

He was in Brighton for 4 days and they have now concluded it is st in the fuel tank thats being sucked into the particle filter, causing the blockage in the fuel system. So, a new tank has been ordered in from the land of the Liederhose wearers. Guess what? 2 weeks back order rolleyes and then 2 days fitting.

How's that chaps? Not bad for me huh smile

Fubes, I am sure we've compared notes on this before, but to add further to the Audi scares;

2 flywheels, one clutch, one hood (cabrio, not american), one HEAD, two sets of coil packs and a rattling heat shield.

The Smart/Cerb are the more reliable cars, the Cerb is the highest mileage/ hardest used/ most original of the whole fleet. eek
