Owner instructed independent inspection prior to SELLING?
Discussion
Personally I'd leave it up to the potential buyer. If I was buying, I'd think it was nice, but wouldn't take it as gospel, as I wouldn't know just how 'independent' it really was. If I had asked for it, and it was carried out at a garage of my choice then I'd have more trust in the report.
Having said that, I had a report carried out immediately after buying my Cerb. They did pick up on most of the faults, but I've since found some that they shouldn't have missed, and also a couple of the 'causes' they explained were at fault weren't entirely accurate. Like the rear sidelight/brake light problem that they said was an earth fault which actually turned out to just be the bulb holders being in the wrong place!

Bloody hell what a cynical bunch, lol!
I wasn't thinking of a local back street job - was thinking, more specifically about Rob Ingleby or of that ilk.
The world of the £10k cerb is a bit of a "notorious" place - you only have to read the "I'm thinking about buying a cerb" threads to realise that. Pre-inspection is often advocated so I did think that if I'd submitted the car to a recognised pre inspector off my own back prior to putting it up for sale and freely displayed the findings to all interested parties it would show I have nothing to hide.
Having read some of the cerb adverts recently some really do "flow" outrageously if you know what I mean *ahem* power claims etc. *cough*
I also know that if I put it up for sale on PH there's a good chance there'll be a "what do you think about this one?" post mortem thread.
Just wondered if anyone had tried this tack themselves.
Of course if I stick it up for sale now and there's no hint of a pre-inspection mentioned I could well have shot myself in the foot, lol!!

why not get a list of all that are being sold by pis heads on the forums and contact the sellers (sorry left the T out) and then get a job lot inspection deal from rob or who ever the prob I can then see ...if some one is selling with a bit of a prob they may decline being involved.. I like the idea bit like selling a house if you can remember when houses sold
the idea i rate 4 stars ..

And relax! The new rack was weeping (
) from the top plate on the casting where the steering column enters (oval shaped plate with two nuts holding it on and a larger nut in the middle - seems to be spring loaded). Anyway the plate has no gasket for some reason and was weeping - cracked it open, a smidge of hylomar and sorted! Also secured the heat shield material on the rear exhaust/body heat shield and stepped up the gaz golds two clicks - they're about right now but those 255/35 profile rear Eagle F1's have zero flex so getting the power down on anything other than supersmooth tarmac is challenging to say the least. Time to experiment with tyre pressures and get it planted . . . then sale
