hi guys,
i have a problem with my 1997 cerbera 4.2...
it went to the garage for clutch master cylinder. easy enough but it now has a miss fire and wont tick over... its almost like over fuelling or something , when opened up its ok as soon as you let of the throttle its back... im not sure if its something the garage has done or just co-incidence but i have checked all conections and they seem to be fine.... the MIL light is also flashing madly when at low revs but when driving it seems to flash every 5-6 secs any ideas guys.... i have got a data lead and disc but the cable dont fit my laptop, i have been to P.C world and they say they dont do a lead..... again any ideas guys,,
cheers

Ok guys. I have changed both of the lambda sensors. But. Still the same. So. Any other ideas guys has anyone got any ideas about the mil light. What the codes are.
Cheers.
When you say 'codes' are you thinking the MIL light is flashing some sort of code?Cheers.
It doesn't. It just flashes when a fault is reported by the ECU
If the lambda sensors were connected the wrong way around its likely the adaptive maps are at the limit the ECU will allow (about 35 or 37.5%)
When the ECU detects that it needs to apply more correction than this limit it reports an AFR fault. That's probably what the MIL light flashing will be.
When you say 'I have changed both of the lambda sensors' do you mean you have fitted new lambda sensors or swapped the leads over?
Either way unless you reset the adaptive maps it will appear to have had little effect since the adaptives are still at the extreme.
You need to get the diagnostic software hooked up and find out what faults have been reported. Then have a look at the adaptive maps and see if the values are extreme. Reset the adaptives to zero and see what effect that has on the engine running.

I have fitted new ones. How do I know if the leads are the right way round?
Cheers guys
The leads should have a yellow label on them and are marked 'odd bank' and 'even bank'.Cheers guys
Odd bank is passenger side.
To reset the adaptives you need to get the diagnostic software from here
You need a serial lead to connect the laptop to the ECU.
One of the menu options in the diagnostics is for resetting the adaptives

Just out of interest - What is the difference between the Old Blue Diags and the new Yellow one? I know the yellow one works, but in the Yellow one the 'Help' files all relate to the Speed 6 engine.
The later version has additional configuration files for the later versions of the ECU software - especially the speed6There are some bug fixes and feature enhancements as well - Interrogate Logs and Reset Throttle are extras in the tools menu
Don't you have 2 versions of the help files?
MapHelp.txt and MapHelp6.txt
Loghelp.txt and Loghelp6.txt
Rthelp.txt and Rthelp6.txt
Ah! I see what you mean (having just fired up the software). With the later diagnostics the Help menu options open the Speed6 versions of the help txt files
