Ok, I want some opinions.

There is a splitter which they offer found under "chimaera". Furthermore a lipspoiler for the Cerbera.

Is there anyone with some aerodynamic knowledge who can say if these make any sense?? Maybe even combined.

Reckon that the splitter for the Chimaera can be fitted to a Cerb aswell?

What I've read in a previous thread is that something can be done to the airpressure which builds up munderneath the bonnet. If there is something of the shelf which makes that happen, I think it is worthwile fitting.

I am not a real spoilerfan when it comes to looks though. It often makes cars look cheaper. So it has to make sense.

I think the Chimp on and the Cerb one (which should be already fitted) are the same, just fitted opposite ways round.

There was a thread on here a couple of weeks ago about the Cerb underspoilers, and they do definitely make a difference to high-speed front-end lift. No sense paying over the odds though - I just had a new one made to my spec (10mm longer than standard) in aluminium for £20.

Here's the thread: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

I think he's talking about something along these lines rather than just the strip of bent metal.

The front splitter for the Chimaera should be able to be fitted to the Cerbera. Does it work though? I don't know.

The other spoiler you refer to - Do you mean the boot spoiler? I would never fit a boot spoiler to my Cerb, On a Cerb it does exactly what the name says - It spoils the car. However.....it probably does need one. Try this, press the boot release button so the boot is not locked, then set off and go for a drive. You'll find that at about 80mph, the boot will just suddenly fly open (Don't worry, as soon as you get back to 75 it will close again) so there must be a bit of lift generated at the back.

Fair enough, that shows that there's obviously a negative pressure above the boot causing some lift, but thats normal on any car with a boot. What the cerb does have is the hint of a diffuser underneeth the back of the car. Not much of a diffuser mind, but probably enough to offer a little downfore.

Mine used to do this when my lock was knackered, well not knackered but needed adjusting!! I got a shock first time it done it lol

Where the heck it that then??
I reckon the boot floor is way too low and should be raised to form a diffuser tunnel.

But raising the rear end on the springs might just allow a bit of suction???
Anybody tired it?

The rear of mine always seems well planted at speed. It's the front that feels too light and moves about too much

Amusing stuff.

I'd be very very suprised if the Cerb produces any downforce, less suprised that it has relatively even lift though. Theres lot to be done in this area, just no one has done it yet. Not yet. thumbup

The 'chin' of Chims and Cerbs are slightly different - the pic below shows the Chim splitter that I grafted on to my Cerb and it needed a fair bit of grinding and glassing to deal with differences of up to an inch in some dimensions. Looking at the one on damagedtvrs though, that might be OK as it looks like it's in 2 sections. You'd want to check before buying - don't assume it will fit a Cerb because it fits a Chim.

Has anyone took a look to the lipspoiler that is on that website? Is that the lip you fit under the nose to reduce airpressure under the bonnet? It is listed under "other parts".

To my taste the one omerta has spoils the lines of the car too much (just my opinion). The ones that ere on the Chimp on the website look more like the mk2 tuscan splitters. The question is..will they do a good job or is it for "looks"? I do not know.

And nooooo!! I would never put a spoiler on the back. Awfull.

Are you doing this because you think it will look better, or because you want to improve the car's aerodynamics?

My splitter is there because I'm building a race car and I want the downforce it will provide. It will also have a quite large adjustable wing at the rear. These are being added for function, not for form, because that's my primary goal in making these modifications. Thanks for your opinion though.

I'm no expert, but I think the splitter you're looking at is too small and in the wrong place to have any practical effect. Of course if you want it for the looks, that's up to you.

I think if yours will be raced your splitter may well be to small? Also ours was very unstable with a spliter but no rear wing.

I'am a great fan of the original lines of the Cerb and taste is a very personal matter I think. But, as you said you are going to race the car. BTW a wonderfull project omerta.

I would only fit these winglets if they do bring better aerodynamics. Otherwise I'll leave the original lines of the car the way they are.

A lipspoiler though proves a better airflow under the bonnet, as I've read, for some members here on PH. So considering that. If the one on damagedtvrs is meant for this than it does have the wrong shape. It should point backwards.

Hi Mike, It will have a rear wing - do you know approx how much downforce yours is applying? The splitter isn't that low and doesn't stick out too far because it will be used for tarmac rallying which means lots of bumps which would rip off a low splitter.
