Out for my first good drive for a while yesterday & noticed after about half hour or so drivng, the gear stick felt a like it was sticking, nothing dramaitic, but just it doesn't do it when cold.
It has felt like this before, but the clutch went & was replaced, haven't really driven much since the new clutch due to the rotten winter we've had.
Any ideas??

When was the last time the gearbox oil was changed.
No idea, i asked for it to be looked at when the clutch was changed a few months back as it started sticking before the clutch went... so i assumed all was fine! I'm now hoping the new clutch was actually needed & related to the problem...!?
It is under the bonnet on the drivers side, you will have to first take the cover off which goes up to the windscreen, there are two countersunk screws to unscrew, one on each side (4mm Allen key) once you have removed that you will see a mat black domed cover with sealant around it, cut through the sealant with a Stanley knife, there may also be a couple of screws holding it in too, once that is off you will see the reservoir there.

Not too sure about this one, but first thing is to check the clutch fluid level, I have to top mine up every few months.
that could be a worry, were does the fluid go ? not worked on the car,but if loosing fluid could this be a sign of leaking slave cylinder ? or internal leak in master cylinder ?kevin63 said:
Mine is a slight leak on the slave cylinder, but as the clutch is nearing the end of it's life I am prepared to top it up every couple of months, it only takes me 5mins and is no problem for me.
if an internal slave makes sence.Edited by valve bounce66 on Monday 16th March 00:29

That would be most appreciated!!!!!
I found a few old threads on here with similar problems, people suggesting gear box oil change to synthetic...??

Mine does this a bit when it gets hot, usually just in town.I just live with it, couldn't find anything amiss.
If its anything like mine it feels more like the lever sticks slightly no problem selecting gears, even reverse.
Yes it sounds similar, it was doing it quite badly the day the clutch went, that's been changed but still doing it. I presumed the two were related, but maybe not. If its anything like mine it feels more like the lever sticks slightly no problem selecting gears, even reverse.
yep ... noticed at the weekend my lever has started to feel like it sticks when you pull it out of gear ... (when hot) ... I had a new clutch and slave fitted and stupidly didnt use the car for over 6 months (other problems!) when i came to use it my clutch fluid was more or less gone ... bled it thru with some new and got my clutch back and a 1000 miles later is still ok but has just now started with the sticking lever .... im going to change clutch fluid and bleed as first point of call but to be honest clutch feels A OK so maybe gearbox oil should be checked!

A new master cylinder and new fluid solved this problem on my car.
I got the slave changed when the clutch was done. Does the Master have to be done at the same time as these??

I just tried to check the clutch fluid level, the black cover seal was not broken & looked old, bit strange if the clutch was changed, surely the fluid would of ben changed. Anyway, couldn't get to the lower screw to get the cover off, looks like you need to remove the air filter box.... job for a saturday.
Does the black dome cover for the clutch fluid serve any purpose, if not i can just cut it off.
Yes you would loose the fluid on a clutch change and the black cover would have to be removed to top it up. Probably your master or slave cylinder leaking and causing a loss of fluid. You cannot check the slave but put your hand up the clutch pedal arm and feel if it is wet with fluid. If the slave has gone it will be a gearbox out jobby.
You need the black cover to stop getting your feet wet!
