The detachable fibreglass panel at the back of the bonnet / in front of the windscreen...

mine is scured in place with two bolts on each side (I think its two from memory) but there is also velcro along the from left to right close to the bottom of the windscreen...is this as it came from TVR or has a previous owner 'added' this to try and stop the panel maybe moving about at speed...?

Just wondering as I am about to re-fit the panel following a bit of an overhaul...

Thanks in advance!

I have velcro on the TOP of mine as a pathetic attempt to hold the bonnet in place but no velcro underneath it.

Mine has velcro (I know, it does sound pathetic!) in three places along the back edge (closest to the windscreen)of the panel...suppose it cant be seen once in place and its better then nothing!

Aren't there supposed to be a couple of 'clips' on the underside which hold it in position until you do the allen bolts up? I have one that has not broken off yet - but apparently that is rare?? Might explain the velcro solution? wink

Yes there are meant to be clips there. You would have to be quite ham fisted to break them off!

The "clips" are basically small pieces of plastic angle bonded on to the bottom of the panel and they slot under the panel that is below the windscreen (I guess it's probably called the scuttle).

sorry to ressurect an old thread but is there any kind of weather seal along or at the ends of the panel to stop water getting in under the bonnet esp. into the area under the expansion tank/battery?

Silicone is your friend - it's the TVR way! wink

Have a look at Biker28i's profile, get the downloads and find the bulletin on where to waterproof the car - it's quite a list. I've found black heatmate to be cheap and suitable for under bonnet temps if that helps.

The only place that has any sealant are the threads of the 2 cap head bolts that hold the panel in place. Without this it's possible for water to make it's way into either footwell.
