Spotted one of my rear discs was cracked today, still works fine but needs replacing sooner than later. Has anyone thought/had floaters put on to the rear drums? so effectively using the drum as the bell. That way you could use a common rotor.

Better start looking now as the last I heard there are no rear discs at all.

I need a pair as mine are fubar'd inside.

Mine arrived from Racing Green 4 weeks ago. Still getting over the cost, but the
pulsing through pedal has stopped, and on close inspection the old ones were on their
last legs.I even got the handbrake to work well(ish).

Latest ones are AP originals I think, and are cross drilled.

I have sourced some new ones, no problem. But they will run out eventually i spose, spesh if you like doing track days, dont like the idea of the drilled ones as they are weakened already. I will have a look at doing a rotor conversion in the mean time, not really looked yet will have to see what size rotor will go over the drum.

BG Dev said they could do this when I enquired, but put the cost at £300 a side - does this sound fair Brum?

If that includes rotors, its a long term investment.
If you offset the cost of what the originals its not a great deal of extra money.
What size discs were they going to fit you up with?

Didn't get that far with it but something with equivalent thickness and diameter to standard. The custom bells were included in the £300.

Rich how much were the ones from RG?

tbh the price they wanted for std items you might as well go for the floating set up.

How does the floater incorporate the handbrake drum?

It wasnt me, honest guv;)

Just had mine done before the Silverstone TD. Austec sourced and fitted in 48 hours (drilled/Tuscan ones if that makes any difference?)

Wallet wilting disks and pads all round yikes

Last year they were £240 a side and they only had one, not a pair. I found a pair of plain discs at the TVR centre for £190 a side. I don't believe either of those numbers included VAT either! frown

eh? Do Tuscan ones fit then?

I thought Tuscan discs had a caliper operated handbrake?

Not home at the moment but from memory the bill including handbrake shoes and a pair
of discs was about £520 inc vat (no pads).
Very happy with the result, but wish I'd known there was a possibility of an alternative,
and I hope the cross drilling doesn't come back to haunt me.

biglaugh

I think the Tuscan discs are the same but are a little larger in diameter and thus would have had a spacer on the caliper.

This option then is the most cost efficient and future proof then!
