Currently running Potenza S03's on the front of the car 225/35 18s, but MOT comming up and they look a bit 'edged' smile

They don't seem to be able to get this anymore.

As the search is currently down what the recommend tyre for spiders now?

Not really an answer since I do not run spider - but i think if you search using google and search within pistonheads.com as a preference found in the advance options within goodgle then this search works better than the PH one anyway.

Fo the record I have RL7s and Khumo tyres - I like 'em

Toyo Proxie`s T1R`s seem to be a popular choice but 225/35/18 look `stretched` on the spiders,i have been recommended to fit 225/40/18.

General concensus on the SO3s is that they are as good as a teflon coated tyre driving though an oil slick. I ha them on my old Griff and couldnt wait to get them off.

Personaly Im on Eagle F1s, which I rate. Otherwise its the Toyos smile

I think carefully - see my concern with the width of the front tyre on a spider - the Toyos do look odd and the rims are vulnerable.

I think Bridgestone has a 235/35R18. Convinced it is a better fit on the Spiders.

Just ordered tyres all round and am going with the often recommended Falkens (FK452 I think it is). Cracking price, local tyre place will supply and fit for £400 all in, Camskill had them at £340 delivered but I will then pay the difference getting them fitted and balanced anyway so seems easier to let the local place supply them. Had Toyo's on before and very happy with them, Falkens beat them on price though and seem to have plenty of happy users so giving them a go in these credit crunch times biggrin.

As for size, am following a few who have taken the front up to a 225/40 rather than the traditional 35 profile, hoping not to get rubbing (some seem to, some don't with the 40's) but it's in for a service next week anyway so can always get the ride height shifted up a bit if needed - they are going on SP wheels which are only 8" fronts anyway and seem to sit further in than Spiders anyway so should be fine I reckon.

Will be interested to hear how you think the Falkens stack up against the Toyos. (I have Falkens on mine)

had Falkens, pretty good - although after they aged they became very hard, great tyre for progressive sliding, although sidewalls weaker than expected. Just put 4 asymetrics goodyears on to see what they're like, picking up tomorrow!
