Headlamp Exchange Mainland Europe
Discussion
Bringing a TVR to Mainland Europe will in any case result in the exchange of the headlamps to make the car legal. There is no need to go to a specialist for that job, since this is really easy as it could be. You just need very tiny hands for the cover wingnuts. I couldn´t fix the one under the frame, so I decided that three fixings are enough...
Nevertheless anyone could use this thread for lamp replacement.
1. What you´ll need
You will need the new lenses and reflectors. Any part supplier should be able to deliver them to your door. They are made by Bosch, i just son´t have tha part numbers at hand. Rumor has ist, that they were installed to older Scania trucks as well.
Some Sikaflex 221 is always coming in handy, if working on TVRs.

2. Lamp Frame Removal
Removal of the frames is really easy. There are four wingnuts holding each cover in place. To reach them, you have to remove the covers in the wheelarch.

After removal of the covers you can see the upper two wingnuts.

After the removal of the four wingnuts you can detach the fram from the car. The holes should give a good idea, where the wingnuts are located.

The corresponding bolts are simply glued to the frames.

3. Lens Removal
The lenses are fixed by a rubber seal which is bonded to the wing.

I found two ways for removal. First you can cut the upper part of the seal, to make removal and reinstallation easier. You can bond the lens in with some Sikaflex, just do not use too much, so that it cannot be seen after the frames are reinstalled.

The second way is to carefully remove the lens from the seal with a screwdriver, without cutting. This makes reinstallation a bit more difficult, but works as well. After the lenses are off, you might find some blind passengers, for me it was a grasshopper.

4. Reflector removal
After 8 years there are huge differences in the old (right) and new (left) reflectors. I also noticed a far more smooth surface on the new ones, apart from the fact that the old ones were a bit blind.

For reflector removal simply undo the three wingnuts, which are used to adjust the beams, completely, then pull them out to the front.

5. Installation
Installation is simply reverse order of the above. Make sure to adjust the beams properly to not disturb oncoming traffic.

Björn.
