Has anyone tried the air induction filter cone things that Joolz sells, as I am thinking about it for my 4.5 cerby and are they easy to fit and do they require any tuning??

We fitted a couple this weekend.
Easy to do and certainly makes the car sound different/better.

My idle speed has dropped by 100rpm since fitting, but that could just be from the weather or other problems. I'm going to reset the ECU when I can be bothered and take a look at the diagnostics, as it's all a bit lumpy at the moment. Whether the air filters have added to this, I couldn't say.

Which reminds me, I need to send Joolz a cheque

I fitted the filters in ? from jools 6 months ago.
5 minute job slightly more induction noise and i,m sure it introduces more cold air into engine compartment which can,t be a bad thing, also does away with the very well designed and EXPENSIVE peice of TVR foam.

go for it

Ron,

But have you noticed any noticable increase in performance and do the cones attach to the airboxes that connect to the purple tubes and do you dispense with the 2 duct pipes and box at the nose end of the car??

there's info on the website about them, they offer NO increse in performance in the truest sense, what they do is:
look good
sound good
never need replacing
eliminate the power loss you get on the std filter as it starts to clog (std filter good for 350bhp maximum, cones good for 500 bhp).

Won't this set up suck hot air from the engine bay and performance suffer?

It will if you don't remove the foam from the front airbox. Removing the foam will blast cold air over the cones.

Joos,
Would you recommend these filters to be fitted then?

Joo,

I think what he means is, if you had a Cerb, would you have the cones on yours?

And the answer will I guess be 'yes' - if you know Joolz, you'll know that he treats all his customers cars as if they were his own. Well actually a lot better than he treats his own.

no use at all on tuscans, they have a MASSIVE filter way capable of flowing enough air for 50 engines

I've had a thought on this...

Does the new setup suffer from any drop in power at high speed?

The reason I ask is that the factory setup has the air intake at the front of the car, cold air is forced in at speed, through the filter into the motor.

The New setup has the filters sitting in the engine bay where they will have to suck turbulent air. I appreciate there is a lot of air under a cerbera bonnet but will the face that it is not being forced in make a difference?

Yours interestedlyingly

Joos,
Two final questions..(well from me anyway!)...
1.Do the filters help/better for general 'round town' type of driving as well as a 'welly-full' up the motorway? and...
2.How much and where can I get these from? (I pursume you sell for diy'ers as well?)
Cheers
Paddy

How much space do the filters require around them for efficient flow?

Would it be possible to run ducting from the existing ram air box (without filter foam) to the two 'big black boxes' such that the filters sat in the ducting?

Jeremy, Julian Rowntree has this in his Cerbera - see August Sprint page 16/17. Rich...

As I understand it Rich, Julian has mounted the filters in the custom made airbox. I was wondering if the filters could be mounted as in the pictures below/above, but with ducting from the existing ram air box to feed them.
