the pads on the rear brakes are desperatley low. what do people recommend. my fronts have plenty of life left. i have the ap racing standard 2 pot rear calipers. the pads appear to be standard tvr items. but from a quick look they are £100 for just rear pads.

ebay are listing ebs ones for half that but the fit im not to sure about. any advice? cheers

They are old Skool Mini, so from around £15, i have Carbone Lorraine that are around £70. I have tried the happy shopper £15 stuff, but then the front locks up way too early.

never!!!! old shape mini fronts or rears to fit my rear callipers?

mine are the ones where you slide the split pins out from the top and the pad slides up and out of the calliper, so pad changing in minutes. which is just the way i like it.

is it a definite that mini pads fit?

And when you do change them don't forget to put some silicone sealant on the backs of the pads otherwise they'll rattle like hell!

ebcbrakesdirect.co.uk kist them for the cerb, upgraded pad for track use so will be good enough for the road for £42 delivered. which isn't bad i think ill go for them.

are the redstuff track pads ok for the road? or are they hard compund and make a lot of noise whilst braking?? am i better off going for the normal ebc pads as they could be quieter?

Personally, I don't really see the need for anything too hardcore on the back, even if you are tracking it. You definitely need a pad that'll work well from cold as you're unlikely to get much meaningful heat into the rears (well, compared with the fronts anyway).

Racetech do the Mintex 1144s for £59 or standard pads for £29 http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/product-subsection...
But you'll probably get 1144s or DS2500s cheaper elsewhere sold as Mini pads.
I *think* these are the right ones, but you'd better check: http://www.minisport.com/acatalog/info_MLB1944.htm...

I like the mintex 1144's as a good all round solution (and a good price).

They look like Mini Cooper S (the mkI or mkII not the Cooper S conversion for the 90s Coopers) or the early 1275GT (I think the later ones used the 8.4" discs with the same calipers as all 1984 onwards Minis)

I am also currently looking for a set of rear pads, I'm thinking of going with EBC Redstuff as that's what I've got on the front and they seem good. The cheapest I have found so far are these at £36.85 with free shipping.

Have you driven the car on track with the red stuffs? I didn't rate the pedal feel, a little mushy I thought.
Good control and modulation, just not as focussed as the ds2000 that were in before. I may try the Carbon Lorain next, just changed the backs to AP.

Is that from personal experience on a Cerb? I ask because I have greenstuff pads on my Mini and they really are quite poor, they also make more dust than I ever thought possible. However, I have found the redstuff ones I have on the front of the Cerb to be very sharp with excellent stopping power. They are the pads which came on the car when I bought it though so I have nothing to compare them to.

P.S. when I first read your post I thought you meant TVR, I did think it was a bit late for that advise!

when I buy new pads, how do I go about pushing the pistons in to accompnay the new thickness?

do I push a screwdriver or lever of some sort down the gap where the pads were and lever the pistons back in (whilst rservoir cap is off) or is there a safer method?

The ceramic reds are supposed to be better than previous offerings, I have a mate with a GT3 who's raced for many years and he rates them. I'm still on running DS2500s at the moment and they seem fine to me. I have some Pagids to go in next.
