I posted a few months back, that the performance on the Cerb was a little lacklustre and felt very flat when you put the pedal down.

To top it all off.A couple of weeks back on the way to the Sports car saturday meet,it suddenly decided to run on four cylinders, and then pick itself up again.By now i had had enough. So booked it in with a indie.

I booked it in with Dan Taylor at Taylor TVR Aylesford kent.Anyone that nows Dan will know that he has looked after Dean Cooke,s Tuscan racer for the last three years.

Anyway it was immediate that one of the pots had a spike in it,so he replaced that.On checking the mileage,it was 3000mls off of having the tappets adjusted. These were found to be closing up,so adjustments and shims were made.Whilst there it was noted that both coil packs were delaminated and cracked.Turning the packs over had water p***ing out from the top.It was quite clear that from the condition of them, that these were the originals. And not ones that had "supposed" to have been changed a couple of years back by another indie.

I was invited down today to take the car for a test drive to see what i thought. There was still a little bit of work left to get it spot on.But i was asked to take it for a drive to compare how it was before.Taking it through the country lanes on the way to the M20 it was immediately apparent, that the jerkiness the car had at low revs was now gone.

Reaching the M20 it was time for foot down.F**k me. It was like a rocket. The pull was fantastic, and the flatness had gone. This was the best the car had ever run.I asked for an honest opinion on the engine, and no bulls****ing.(bearing in mind this car had £5000 lavished on it by the previous owner by having race cams fitted). his answer was to the point. For an early car,he is quite surprised. Its a lot stronger than most 4.2,and 4.5,s that he has worked on.If he was surprised. Then i was over the f***ing moon. What a difference.thumbup

Is this the same Dan Taylor who used to work at CDL racing? If so he did some work on my old cerb and did a very good job.
