MOT time looms and my car needs at least one Cat replacing and I will probably leave them on when I refit them as on longer journeys the level of noise becomes a problem for an old git like me.

I think you can get different types of cat that have more or less "cells". Does anybody know what the original ones had and who does them? Also are there any good cheaper alternatives.

Current Cerb cats are of the metallic foil type (similar to race cats you buy these days) and hence why imho they aren't that great.

You may be able to improve flow a little with a 100 cell race cat. But I don't think it'll be much, probably just an improvement in emissions!

Thanks for the reply.

Are others that run with Cats running the standard ones or after market items?

I think that most that run cats run std items.

I don't fally know what the actual gains are. I know that low speed stability and combustion are comprimised by taking them out though.
