Just ordered some T1-R fronts in 255 x 40 18, what's best for the rears as Toyo only do 255 x 35 18 is this the norm or will they look lots slimmer then the front, running Kumo rears at the mo with loads of tread left in a 255 x 40. Have S03s on now which I hate so should be an improvement

Cheers Ian

255 fronts!! Is that a missprint? Toyo T1-R's do look a lot narrower than other brands. For example, my 245/35R18's are narrower than my Bridgestone S03 225/50R16's

Let me know how you get on. I'm going Toyo T1-Rs next when my SO3s on the front wear out. They're rubbish all right.

had S03s on my original RL17 then changed to f1s which where 100 times better. Then got chance of some used Spiders but with S03s on so back to square one. Hope the Toyo's live up to the hype. Back to the question though will a 35 depth look strange to the new 40's on the front.

Thanks again

No it looks fine Ian. The profile is a ratio to the width so given that the rear is a wider tyre then a 35 profile on the 255 width actually still produces a real sidewall height the same as the 225/40 - I changed to 40 on the front and think it looks far better than the 35 profile.

Try to keep the tyres the same diameter.

I'm sure I've got 265/35 ZR 18 Toyos on the rear of the Griff.

Having seen just how narrow my 245's are compared with normal, i dont doubt that 265's would fit! Maybe only in T1-R's though...

wavey Hi Ian smile Hope you're still planning to be at Chatsworth, looking forward to the annual catch-up!

Can't help on the tyre issues, I'm rubbish with that sort of thing. Although iirc Boss told me I 'needed' to put 265's on the rear when I changed the tyres (SP12 wheels).

Out of interest which model Kumho's are you running?

I have enjoyed Kumho KU31's on a 318iS and recently IS200.

Shame about the S03's, really poor tyre. So poor I made Bridgestone by mine back off of me when trying them on the cerb smile.

Whatever happened to Bridgestone, they totally lost the plot. The SO2 was simply the best tyre I've ever driven on, the 2A and 3 aren't even fit for a pushbike grumpy
